Global Security Technology and Risk (gSTAR) is made up of Technical Infrastructure (TI) Security and Cloud CISO. Between these functions all of Google is defended at the infrastructure layer and with Cloud CISO. This is a global team of professionals with a complex and diverse set of activities that is mission critical for Alphabet.

This role is central to the success of the gSTAR teams that support the security of our planet-spanning TI that powers Google Product Areas including Google Cloud Platform (GCP) that extends that infrastructure to enterprise customers.

As Director, you will drive horizontal initiatives and strategies across the organization and the broader community. You will identify and articulate strategic opportunities and collaborate with leadership to implement them. You will identify issues across organizations and create actionable programs and initiatives to solve them by delegating the execution of those programs to the team or adjacent teams. You will partner with our internal and external stakeholders and understand their diverse set of needs. You will utilize an understanding of Google product knowledge and operations. You will build and lead teams, providing ongoing coaching and feedback. You will set team priorities, structure work, and monitor progress. You will also engage in community contributions to improve and sustain our culture and operations, making Google a better place to work.

The US base salary range for this full-time position is $253,000-$363,000 bonus equity benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. The range displayed on each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target salaries for the position across all US locations. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Responsibilities

  • Lead program management for new security programs. Lead core operations and business cadence, and establish and lead operating processes and tools for effectively managing the organization.
  • Partner closely across functions relevant to the business, including Product and Engineering, Sales, Comms/PR, Marketing, People Operations, Finance, Legal and Operations. Own and communicate the strategic business narrative. Partner on behalf of the business with cross-functional teams on key strategic initiatives.
  • Identify problems and issues, often spanning organizational or functional boundaries, and creative programs and processes to solve them.
  • Step in to lead critical projects based on emergent business needs. Serve as a proxy on behalf of leadership with cross-functional partners.
  • Provide data-driven strategic recommendations to leadership based on analysis, technical acumen, experience and judgment. Communicate strategic recommendations and findings to executive management and the broader organization.
