JOB DESCRIPTION
Apex Systems is seeking a senior leader to manage and drive the PMO. This role partners heavily with executive management to identify and manage PMO processes. This includes program development, investment prioritization, resource management, and PM management that will transform the business. This role provides leadership to corporate and business management regarding the execution of business projects, products, initiatives, and strategies. The Director of PMO will work with executive teams to develop short to long term project forecasting models. This role will develop data-driven analysis to report on project and program performance and ensure the business value is delivered as committed.
The Director of PMO influences strategy and sets process, policy, and direction for the PMO. This role owns a significant number of measurable functional, operational, and strategic goals or priorities. In this role, you will assume responsibility for the successful implementation of business projects as well as projects related to IT infrastructure. As part of the Shared Services team, you will work closely with all levels of technology and business management.
  • Lead the PMO, setting strategy and process.
  • Provide strategic advice and planning to Shared Services/corporate functional departmental executives management regarding overall project portfolio for both capital and operational strategic initiatives.
  • As head of the Project management organization (PMO) - direct reports include including project managers, Scrum masters, Portfolio Owners, and tool administrators (ServiceNow)
  • Responsible for budget creation and oversight across the project portfolio.
  • Builds financially sound, executable, data driven business and IT plans, implementing the business-driven priorities that improve the company's shareholder value
  • Develop and enforce program management policies through Apex
  • Ensure all projects have required documents, detailed project plans/stories, Scope, requirements, resourcing plans.
  • Optimize portfolio.
  • Produce weekly reporting on Portfolio health.
  • Sponsor Red project meetings on a weekly basis with CIO and Head of Business Transformation to discuss issues and resolution plans.
  • Lead Stakeholder groups for Core projects.
  • Select and manage use of third-party vendors for strategic initiatives
  • Work with and drive both Waterfall and Agile methodologies.
  • Applies financial rigor and acumen to all initiatives that lead executive and companies' business teams to shareholder value based on decisions (Business cases to drive prioritization)
  • Builds solid relationship with IT and Business Transformation partners.
  • Creates environment of predictable delivery.
  • Balance short term with long term strategies and resource investments.
  • Provides strong leadership, develops, and sets individuals and departmental team performance goals and manages/drives change.
JOB REQUIREMENTS
  • Bachelor's Degree in Business, Management, or related discipline and 10+ years' experience managing PMO office at a fortune 500 company or appropriate combination of education and experience
  • PMO Certifications
  • Strong experience as a PMO leader with experience driving transformational programs.
  • Prior corporate leadership
  • Leader of senior managers and individual contributors
  • Experience managing Capital and OpEx budgets and activities.
  • Experience managing ServiceNow Portfolio modules.
  • Experience working in a Global environment
  • This position will be a hybrid role and requires 3 days in-office per week, based in Richmond, VA
