Our Technology Consulting EHR Services practice continues to grow our comprehensive services capability using the collective expertise of our clinical, consulting, delivery, technology, and operations teams. EHR Services Project Managers within our practice serve as liaisons between client leadership, operations, and IT resources and their Optum project teams. Project Managers scope, plan, oversee and document all aspects of multiple concurrent projects with varying degrees of complexity within the organization. This role regularly consults with upper management to ensure the scope and direction of each project is on schedule, collaborating across the organization for support. Our Project Managers demonstrate knowledge of core project management principles and provide exemplary customer service that continues to position Optum as a center of excellence for technology consulting and related EHR services.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Perform scoping and requirements gathering for pharmacy product development as it relates to the healthcare industry
  • Develop and maintain detailed project plans (including resource assignments, schedules, dependencies, etc.)
  • Develop, maintain, and revise all project management materials
  • Educate and mentor project team members on thorough project management documentation throughout the project lifecycle
  • Track progress of projects and ensure all milestones and timelines are met, quickly identifying and escalating any risks to meeting these milestones and timelines
  • Collaborate and negotiate with project sponsors and other stakeholders on project management strategy, timeframes, and specific outcomes to be achieved
  • Identify relevant stakeholders and build communication strategies to ensure project deliverables are on time, within budget, and meet desired outcome metrics
  • Identify, escalate, and mitigate project risks and issues, communicate project status, and navigate changes in project scope, resources, or timeline to ensure that the project sponsor is satisfied with project results
  • Provide coordination amongst multiple parties (clients, vendors, external partners, and Optum) to bring alignment and shared understandings of project scope, timelines, milestones, and expectations
  • Establish, implement, and comply with change management processes to drive effective project execution (e.g., launch, deployment, revisions, change control)
  • Assist in establishing, customizing, and maintaining EHR Services project management methodology and procedures
  • Collaborate on process improvements within the EHR Services team and participate in process improvement efforts

Required Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of relevant project management experience using data and information to achieve project goals
  • 5+ years of experience in complex project management in a healthcare and/or IT setting, including 2,000+ hours leading and managing projects
  • Experience at fast-paced and agile company, managing multiple projects concurrently
  • Experience working with fully remote project teams and leading projects to successful completion
  • Technical aptitude to fully understand and acquire the necessary knowledge required to effectively collaborate with team members on any project
  • Proficiency in Smartsheet, Microsoft Project, Excel, PowerPoint or similar tools for managing projects and deliverables
  • Proven ability to complete projects according to outlined scope, budget, and timeline
  • Proven solid familiarity with project management software tools, methodologies, and best practices
  • Proven solid communication and relationship management skills with experience working across all levels, from administrative to executive
  • Ability to travel up to 25% annually, USA domestic locations; Travel may be lower depending on project requirements

Preferred Qualifications:

  • PMP certification or other formal project management training
  • Pharmacy product experience
  • Epic or other EHR implementation experience
  • Consulting experience with a focus on analyzing and interpreting client needs and creating value through professional product delivery
  • History of managing EHR strategy, product development, or implementation projects
  • Worked on product development projects (life cycle for product development)

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to local labor markets, education, work experience, certifications, etc. UnitedHealth Group complies with all minimum wage laws as applicable.
