Your Role:

The EHS Engineer I will execute Environmental, Health, and Safety support services under the direction of the EHS Manager for the Norwood site including, but not limited to, EHS training, waste management compliance program completion and related filings, environmental permit filing, OSHA reporting and filing, site auditing, deviation responses, recordkeeping, root cause investigations and risk assessments as well as development and adherence to ISO 14001 and ISO 45001. The essential functions included in this role are the following:

  • Assist in meeting new or revised EHS requirements as defined by the EHS Manager
  • Assist in the collection of data to support all required OSHA and environmental reports
  • Assist in maintaining compliance with ISO14001 and ISO45001 Certification
  • Maintain and drive safety culture throughout site
  • Support EHS systems and ensure appropriate behaviors
  • Inform management of EHS deviations
  • Properly escalate risks with respect to people, products, and processes
  • Support Operational Excellence project
  • Ensure standard and consistent EHS methods are utilized
  • Provide EHS support to Manufacturing, Distribution, and Engineering/Maintenance for products that require design for development to ensure incorporation of EHS aspects
  • Support EHS programs in conjunction with Operations, Distribution, and other site functions, EHS compliance programs and appropriate agency filings completed timely as defined by EHS Manager
  • Address and resolve EHS related issues
  • Collaborate with impacted groups to ensure timely project completion related to EHS aspects
  • Collaborate with site personnel to ensure a safe work environment
  • Prompt interaction with Plant Management and HR to address EHS related employee issues, Support BeSafe observations program
  • Conduct appropriate EHS audits and inspections
  • Interpret EHS audit results and timely completion of corrective actions
  • EHS project completion
  • Develop new EHS concepts, techniques and standards
  • Ensure alignment of EHS solutions with organizational objectives
  • Implement workplace injury/illness prevention programs which includes health and safety procedures, incident investigation, and training
  • Participate/Lead Employee EHS Committee(s) and site management team
  • Develop and implement EHS training for all employees and ensure that proper training has taken place
  • Participate in activities associated with job hazard analysis, industrial hygiene monitoring, hazardous waste identification, collection and disposal, wastewater treatment, spill control and emergency planning, contractor safety, and safety engineering reviews
  • Conduct root cause investigations and risk assessments
  • Complete training to become a Site Security Officer


Who You Are:

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Industrial Hygiene, Environmental Science or Health, Occupational Safety, Safety Engineering, Chemical Engineering or other environmental discipline
  • 3+ years of experience in a Chemical Engineering or EHS role in a manufacturing environment


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Process Safety Management and/or emergency response experience
  • 3+ years' experience with ISO14001 & 45001, environmental regulations, chemical safety, ergonomics, fall protection, respiratory protection, lab safety, DOT and IATA regulations, Bloodborne Pathogens, behavior-based safety programs, and lab safety practices
  • Six Sigma Blue Belt certification (or higher) or equivalent
  • Strong computer skills including working knowledge of Microsoft Office products
  • Knowledge of Six Sigma methodologies
  • Superior organizational and time management skills
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively manage multiple projects
  • Ability to develop solutions to complex problems with ingenuity and innovation
  • Ability to communicate effectively with all levels within the organization and with outside contacts
  • Ability to conduct risk assessments, Job Hazard Analyses and manage corrective actions
  • Ability to complete environmental permitting requirements
