Job Description

AECOM is seeking an Electrical Engineer to be based in Arlington, VA.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

Prepare detailed calculations, drawings, technical specifications for design bid build projects
  • Prepare electrical design and documentation for design build projects
  • Review cost estimates for electrical design projects
  • Perform detailed analysis of existing conditions, owner program and budget, and develop electrical design solutions
  • Develop electrical power distribution and lighting design concepts with architects, engineers and owners
  • Ensure design conforms with all applicable codes and standards
  • Conduct electrical surveys
  • Conduct site visits during construction
  • Coordinate electrical design with other disciplines
  • Perform construction administration tasks including shop drawing and RFI review
  • Perform specific and moderate portions of a broader assignment of a senior professional engineer
  • Perform quality control review of electrical engineering design
  • Provide guidance to entry level engineers
  • Perform work in accordance with agreed upon budget and schedule with little supervision
  • Independently perform all the tasks necessary to complete primary design elements for engineering works

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical engineering or a related field plus four (4) years of experience in buildings and facilities engineering with specific experience in the design of lighting design and power distribution
  • Professional Engineer (PE) registration
  • Due to the nature of the work, US Citizenship or permanent resident status is required
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience designing and specifying low voltage (480 V and below) electrical power distribution systems for commercial, government and institutional facilities including office tenant space, utilities and support facilities
  • Experience designing and specifying ductbank and manhole systems
  • Experience designing and specifying lighting and lighting control systems for commercial, government and industrial facilities in accordance with energy code requirements (ASHRE 90.1, IECC, UFC) including familiarity with lighting calculations, occupancy/vacancy control, and application of state-of-the-art materials to projects
  • Experience preparing and reviewing electrical system load analysis, short circuit analysis, arc flash studies, etc.
  • Familiarity with the National Electric Code and other NFPA codes
  • Familiarity with UFC
  • AutoCAD and/or Revit experience
  • Experience understanding overall project constraints including design/construction budget limitations and schedule requirements
  • Ability to interact and communicate effectively with clients and other team members and disciplines
  • Use of effective written and verbal English communication skills
  • Experience using electrical system analysis tools (E-TAP, SKM, etc)

Offered rate of compensation (Virginia locations only) will be based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. The salary range for this position is $100,000 - $125,000.
