Job Summary:
As a member of a highly trained and proficient team, the Emergency Management Coordinator employed by Erlanger Health System is responsible for:

Non Clinical Requirements:
Demonstrates high-level competence in Healthcare Emergency Management, Emergency Preparedness, and Disaster Preparedness.

Understands regulatory compliance and all forms of emergency preparedness strategies.

Coordinates with the Emergency Management Committee and provides support and assistance to all regional, departmental groups and subcommittees as required.

Coordinates a multi-disciplinary team to integrate departmental and satellite campuses emergency preparedness plans, policies, and procedures into the organizational Emergency Operations Plan (EOP) and insures that our inpatient units within satellite campuses are integrated into the main hospitals EOP on an annual basis and as needs and/or locations change.

Provides direction, coaches, trains, develops, and manages performance to organizational goals and expectations.

Plan and coordinates training and implementation of regional emergency drills to ensure staff understanding and appropriate and effective responses in the event of an emergency. Drills and training meet and/or exceed the requirements set forth by DNV, Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) and all regulatory agencies.

Attends and actively participates in local, regional, state and federal level emergency preparedness meetings.

Provides coordination and execution of emergency preparedness exercises and represents our regional sites on local, regional and State exercise planning committees.

Assists in the development and implementation of regional policies and procedures that conform to all regulatory standards; meets with practitioners and regional staff to explain and facilitate methods and training to meet emergency preparedness standards.

Serves as the subject matter expert during mitigation, preparedness, response, and recovery phases.

Maintains the operational readiness and emergency preparedness initiatives, including clinical and non-clinical readiness programs, continuity of operations protocols and incident management strategies.

Collaborate on the development of business plans for emergency preparedness, providing structure, discipline, and deployment actions of Emergency Preparedness Emergency Operation Centers.

Provides coordination, supervision, and staffing for special events.

Clinical Requirements:
Direct /indirect care of the patient (s) during prehospital and interfacility transports or as deemed necessary within the hospital.

Assessment of any trauma or medical patient.

Initiation of indicated treatment modalities in accordance with written guidelines and verbal medical control direction.

Possession of and the ability to demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age (s) of the patient (s) both prehospital and those transported.

Demonstrated knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the life span.

The ability to assess data reflective of the patient's status and assimilate the information necessary to identify each patient's requirements relative to his or her age.

The demonstrated knowledge and ability to provide/prioritize care based on guidelines and procedures.

Education:
Required:
Graduate of an accredited EMT-Paramedic training program.
National Incident Management System 100, 200, 700, and 800 courses. (or classes must be obtained within 90 days of employment)

Preferred:
An AS degree is recommended (BS or MS degree is preferred) in emergency management, health sciences, industrial safety, law enforcement, with related emergency management/operations field experience.

Experience:
Required:
Three years experience in the areas of emergency preparedness, healthcare safety, military emergency management/healthcare emergency operations, or public safety. Additional experience can be substituted for education on a year for year basis. Ability to utilize a computer with applicable software to successfully perform essential functions of the position.

A minimum of five years of continuous experience is required on an Advanced Life Support Ground Unit as an EMT-P. Experience must reflect general knowledge in pre-hospital medicine principles and practice skills, current trends and new development.

Position Requirement(s): License/Certification/Registration
Required:
Licensed or Certified as an EMT-Paramedic in the state of residence. Must obtain Tennessee licensure prior to starting clinical orientation.

Certifications:
- Certification in BLS and ACLS.
- Certification in one of the following: PALS, PEPP, or PBTLS.
- Certification in one of the following: ITLS, PHTLS, or TNATC required.
- Certification in Neonatal Resuscitation Program.

Preferred:
Nationally Registered EMT-Paramedic (NRP).

Instructor certifications in BLS, ACLS, ITLS, PHTLS, and PEPP, PBTLS or PALS is preferred upon hire.

Department Position Summary:
Ability to perform both Basic and Advanced Life Support practices in the execution of patient care

Possesses sound judgment and organizational ability

Possesses and demonstrates above average written and oral communication skills

Maintains provider certifications in ACLS, BLS, ITLS or PHTLS Also must hold certification in one of the following: PALS, PEPP or PBTLS, (instructor certifications preferred).

Must be physically fit to lift, twist, bend and work in small, sometimes hazardous environments.

Possess and demonstrate the ability to safely operate an emergency vehicle in emergency and non-emergency conditions, in all types of weather.

Work with other hospitals, agencies, and emergency services in the region to assure the highest quality and most compassionate care is rendered to those in need; assists with maintaining cleanliness and efficiency of the Emergency Management and Event Medicine department.
