D457, Commissioned Ships Electrical Engineering has an engineering position available for first shift at the Groton shipyard site. Our engineering group, Electrical Hull Planning Yard and Multi Mission Platform (MMP) Support, is responsible for providing planning yard functions for auxiliary systems on commissioned ships as well as providing electrical engineering support for the Watchtower Program Office, which oversees the MMP on SSN23.
Responsibilities include initial system and/or component design and upgrades as ship alterations, in addition to ships life cycle support. Candidates will function as a project engineer overseeing all aspects of engineering tasks including technical quality, working in a team environment, maintaining schedules, awareness of budgets, and interfacing with Design, other engineering organizations and disciplines, technical writers, buyers and program office representatives.
Candidates will also be required to evaluate and provide technical resolution to system and component related questions and problems from Navy Shipyards, Navy Forces afloat and NAVSEA. Selected candidates will be expected to effectively communicate within the organization as well as with NAVSEA, Navy shipyards and equipment vendors.
Newly hired personnel will be assigned a mentor to assist in learning the above roles and responsibilities.

Responsibilities
- Strong technical writing and verbal communication skills.
Required:
- Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering or equivalent technical degree
- 2+ years of experience in electrical engineering.
- Familiarity with submarine systems and the work listed in this job description.
- Ability to obtain a DOD secret security clearance.
- Experience with electrical systems, components, and cableway design processes and products
- US Navy experience
- Experience working in a private or Naval shipyard
- Experience providing engineering support of a program office
