Under the close supervision of a Senior Environmental Scientist (Supervisory), the incumbent will identify problems, develop courses of action, conduct scientific investigations and studies on issues of major importance, and review and prepare documents on issues related to: California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA); habitat conservation plans; regional and local planning codes, ordinances and planning tools; assess the impacts of projects on habitat and species; coordinate with other regional and statewide staff, as well as local and federal partners. The incumbent will function as a member of a regional environmental review and compliance team focused on a major geographic or technical area.

Working Conditions
This position reports to the Seal Beach office a minimum of two days per week with the option to telework a maximum of three days per week. Ability to use a computer keyboard for several hours each day; complete office tasks that require sitting, standing, and walking; attend meetings and conference calls. The position may require field work. A valid California Driver's license is required to drive on official state business. Driving may require travel of up to three or more hours each way including overnight travel. Work schedules may include early mornings and late nights; hiking over uneven and possibly steep or wet terrain; and work in inclement weather.
