What we need YOU to do:

The Ohio Environmental Protection Agency wants you to be our newest environmental specialist in the Division of Air Pollution Control (DAPC), working at our Central Office in Columbus.

As an environmental specialist at Ohio EPA, you'll be an essential part of the small compliance and enforcement section in DAPC. You'll be responsible for supporting compliance and enforcement for the districts, central office programs, and the nine local air agencies. This means providing a technical review of enforcement cases and preparing documents for their resolution, as well as taking part in enforcement settlement meetings, pre-hearing conferences, hearings, and other litigation activities.

Additionally, you'll provide technical guidance with respect to air pollution control and regulation to the Ohio EPA District Offices and local air agencies, government representatives, industry, consulting engineers, and the public. You'll research technical literature and regulations, formulate appropriate guidance, and prepare written and verbal guidance to those who need it.

You'll also participate in Ohio EPA rule development, adoption, and implementation processes by providing technical support for rule development, economic analyses, and rule synopsis. Lastly, you'll conduct technical field inspections for compliance determinations and regulation development purposes, determining status with applicable regulations and preparing report letters summarizing the findings and conclusions of the field inspections

Qualifications
4 yrs. trg. or 4 yrs. exp. in position involving geology or hydrology, engineering, chemistry, physics, biology, environmental science &/or other comparable physical or health science field, earth science &/or urban & regional planning, &/or mathematics.

-Or baccalaureate degree in engineering, chemistry, physics, biology, environmental science, earth science &/or urban & regional planning, geology or other comparable physical or health science field or mathematics.

Note: For all positions engaged in field work, applicants must be able to provide own transportation. New employees in EPA's solid waste program, excluding those in the solid waste planning unit, must obtain a sanitarian-in-training certificate during their probationary period.
