Job Summary Under general direction of the Chief Administrative Officer, provide finance, payroll and operations analysis for the Department of Medicine and Epidemiology and serve as subject matter expert for all units in the School of Veterinary Medicine. The incumbent is expected to utilize initiative, judgement and discretion in researching, analyzing and compiling necessary information to contribute to smooth daily operations. Incumbent will be responsible for researching and resolving payroll, financial and operations matters. Incumbent will provide support for general accounting, account reconciliation, purchasing, travel, staff/academic payroll using AggieBudget, AggieExpense, Cognos, UCPath, Aggie Enterprise, and other computer systems as appropriate

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in related areas or equivalent experience and/or training.
  • Experience in financial analysis to analyze and compile financial data and report, maintain accountability, establish audit trails and work with a complex accounting structure.
  • Analytical skills to assume responsibility for coordination and completion of complex projects requiring interactions with several people in a large organization and interpersonal/communication skills to communicate effectively and professionally; disseminate complex information clearly and concisely; and diplomatically to persons of varied background and experience.
  • Skill to understand and use financial data management and reporting systems including Aggie Enterprise, Aggie Expense, UCPath, Cognos, Oracle and other applications used by UD Davis to process and analyze financial transactions such as payroll and purchasing.
  • Strong organizational and analytical skills to assume new assignment and independently follow through to successful completion, to manage detail of multiple complex projects and develop goals/plans for timely resolution and implementation.
  • Ability to acquire an intermediate knowledge and understanding of internal and external control practices and their impact on protecting University resources and complying with sponsor requirements.
  • Demonstrated computer proficiency and math skills to use spreadsheet and database software to create and maintain reports, analyses and tracking systems.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience administering and analyzing multiple fund sources with complex restrictions.
  • Working knowledge of UC financial and payroll processes, policies and procedures.
