Job Summary

The Efaw Peer Mentor Graduate student plays a critical role in the Efaw Center daily operations. This position involves mentoring students, licensing exam program facilitation and development for undergraduate and graduate education students, data management, and supporting the director with high impact programming and events.

Activities for this position include:

Conducting outreach to referred students throughout the academic year.

Updating Canvas Module grade check reports weekly and sending them to appropriate parties.
Reviewing data forms and reaching out to students using established protocols.

Assisting to revise and update established protocols based on feedback
Meeting 1:1 with students (in person/ zoom) and providing academic mentoring and case management.
Holding office hours/meetings/workshops (in person/ zoom).
Contacting community and campus partners to arrange events and catering for the event.
Designing and facilitating learning communities and workshops.

Canvas site-building and maintaining
Preparing program materials for licensure exam preparation.
Conducting email and phone campaigns to reach out to students and share resources/ deadlines.
Collecting and organizing program data.
Attending scheduled staff meetings.

Supporting undergraduate tutoring staff.
Attending professional learning workshops as they relate to job requirements.

Collaborate with other team members as relevant to the tasks assigned. Other relevant duties as assigned.

Salary Rate / Pay Rate

$1500 per month

Required Qualifications

2. Must be a degree seeking graduate student at Illinois State University in one of the following degree fields: Education, Social Work, Psychology, Communications, Speech and Pathology, Project Management

-Ability to prioritize and delegate tasks, ask clarifying questions, and take notes,
-Experience with or willingness to learn Accudemia, Microsoft Teams, Canvas, Outlook and other digital applications using online resources and ISU professional learning opportunities.
-Interest in and ability to serve in a leadership role and support staff peers in completing their projects/ work

Work Hours

20 hours/ week M-Fri, 8am-8pm, some weekends

Illinois State University student employees are restricted to no more than 28 hours per week of on-campus employment for all positions held. International students are restricted by their visa status to no more than 20 hours per week of on-campus employment when the university is in session but may work up to 28 hours per week when the university is not in session.
