Job Summary
The English Scholar Graduate student plays a critical role in facilitating the English Scholars program. This program involves mentoring and program development and facilitation for first-generation college students studying to become teachers who are recipients of the English Scholars award.
Activities for this position include:
Conducting outreach to English Scholar students throughout the academic year
Monitoring early alert and midterm grades and reaching out to students
Meeting 1:1 with students (in person/ zoom)
Holding office hours (in person/ zoom)
Contacting community and campus partners to arrange events and catering for the event
Monitoring the dissemination of technology package and communicating with key individuals
Designing and facilitating learning communities and workshops
Canvas site-building and maintaining
Preparing program materials
Conducting email and phone campaigns to reach out to students
Holding meetings via zoom and in person
Collecting and organizing program data
Attending staff meetings
Attending professional learning workshops
Support developing an alumni mentorship program-outreach to mentors and mentees, maintaining resources, communicating with mentors and mentees, supporting organizing and hosting events
Collaborate with other team members as relevant to the tasks assigned
Other relevant duties as assigned
Salary Rate / Pay Rate
$1500 per month
Required Qualifications
1. Eligible for appointment as per the requirements in the Graduate Assistant Handbook which can be found at http://hr.illinoisstate.edu/downloads/GA_Handbook.pdf
2. Must be a degree seeking graduate student at Illinois State University in one of the following degree fields: Education, Social Work, Psychology, Communications, Speech and Pathology, Project Management

-Experience with or willingness to learn Accudemia, Google Scholar, Microsoft Teams, Canvas, Outlook and other digital applications through self learning and engaging in professional learning opportunities.
