The Auditor of State is seeking to hire a General Service Specialist to work in our Facilities and Operations. The preferred candidate will live in Franklin County or within proximity to the downtown Columbus area and have the ability to lift up to 40 lbs.

• High School diploma or GED.
• Knowledge of departmental and agency regulations, policies, and procedures.

What will you be doing?
The General Service Specialist acts under general supervision within our Facilities and Operations Department to perform the following:
- Operation of postage machines (e.g., postage scale, meter machine; inserter; opener) to process or manually process (e.g., sorts; dates & time stamps; opens; bundles; addresses; registers &/or deliver) incoming and/or outgoing mail to appropriate office.
- Pick up and/or deliver mail, parcels and/or messages.
- Prepare UPS or express letters or packages.
- Receive and distribute stock, supplies and/or equipment in one-person storeroom (i.e., storeroom with no other employees, including supervisory personnel) or in large central warehouse.
- Collect and prepare recyclable materials for pick-up.
- Review invoices, purchase order codes and/or packing slips to ensure correctness of items and to ensure delivery of accurate quantities.
- Inspect stock for damage and expiration date if applicable.
- Unload stock, file orders, deliver stock and store appropriately.
- Order supplies and/or equipment.
- Load and unload vehicles and pick-up, move and/or deliver various materials (e.g., furniture, equipment, packages; record boxes) on scheduled local or state route.
- Perform minor maintenance or schedule vehicle for maintenance (e.g., change gas, oil and/or tires; change and/or maintain battery; wash vehicles).
- Maintain inventory of office furniture, equipment, supplies, and master records.
- Rotate stock for efficient storage.
- Clean and organize storeroom.
- Maintain accurate inventory records.
- Proofread final material for accuracy and completeness.
- Perform clerical duties (e.g., answer telephone; screens or refers calls and taking messages; sorting and distributing mail; updating and maintaining filing system; operating calculator and/or adding machine; maintaining record of completed work and/or miscellaneous logs.
- Operate typewriter and word processing equipment and software to produce basic material (e.g., correspondence; reports; charts; tables; forms; lists; labels).
- Enter data to formatted screen to update files.
- Produce letters and proofread final material for accuracy and completeness and perform other duties as assigned.
