The School of Engineering and Applied Science at the University of Virginia seeks candidates to support the operations of Post Award Research Administration within the Dean's Office as a Grants and Contracts Administrator. Duties include grants management, administrative services and financial services, effort reporting, procurement and accounting services. This position will work closely with various stakeholders across the University and the School to provide high quality customer service for research faculty and staff.
  • The successful candidate will be working closely with faculty and other staff to plan, spend and manage their financial portfolio-daily functions include and not limited to:
  • Planning and managing research awards from start to completion and manage project/contract to scope, schedule and budget.
  • Compile, analyze, and interpret complex data-able to support faculty/research staff with balances, financial projections, deficit cleaning etc.
  • Review and approve invoices, purchasing orders and other forms of procurement and process payroll, accounting and journal adjustment.
  • Understand, interpret, and apply laws, rules, regulations, policies, procedures, contracts, budgets, and labor/management agreements. Analyze situations, identify problems, and recommend solutions specifically the interpretation of funding agency regulations and requirements.
  • Monitor award and project progress and compliance.
  • Handle document preparation, reconciliation review and prepare various reports and requests for stakeholders as required.
  • Negotiate successful resolutions to various situations while demonstrating a high level of attention to detail.
  • The successful candidate for the position should be excited to learn new systems such as Workday Financials and Huron Research Suite, and:
  • Demonstrate a proficient knowledge of Microsoft Excel as well as a desire to develop advanced skills.
  • Demonstrate a strong understanding of other Microsoft Office products.
Salary range for this position is expected to be $65k - 75k, commensurate with education and experience.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

Education: Bachelor's degree
Experience: At least three years of grant and contract experience. Four additional years of experience may be accepted in lieu of degree.
Licensure: Certified Research Administrator (CRA) certification is preferred.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

This is primarily a sedentary job involving extensive use of desktop computers. The job occasionally requires traveling some distance to attend meetings, and programs.

This is a hybrid position which will require being in the office in Charlottesville, VA each week. The flex work arrangement will be reviewed at an annual basis based on school and university policy.
