Job Description
The direction of the supervisor/ADN/DON the head nurse of the ambulatory care department is responsible for planning, organizing, directing coordinating and evaluating the quality of care rendered in the clinic. The head nurse she has the authority and responsibility of managing the unit to guarantee quality of care for every patient seen in clinic and is held accountable by the use of the nursing process. She/he is responsible for the implementation of the nursing department, philosophy, and objectives of nursing care through the use of the department policies and procedures, policy and procedures.
Responsibilities:
• Report directly to the supervisor/ADM/DON.
• Performs all staff nurse responsibilities.
• Text for absent and late employees and monitors the computerized sign in and out sheet.
• Perform initial assessments and reassessment of patient receiving care clinic and assist MD with all examinations.
• Delegates staff to perform the following function assignments, such as:
o Vital signs performing phlebotomy EKG.
o Patients for various procedures and proper consent.
o checking code charts.
• Make staff assignments gives each staff member the briefing necessary for the care of patients in the assigned clinic
• Supervisors, medication, treatment and diagnostic procedures administered or performed by staff.
• Conducts into disciplinary, referrals or conferences need arises with therapist, social worker, dietitian, and physicians and other health team members
• Collaborates with administrative staff to enhance patient flow and ensure smooth and efficient daily operations
• Initiates or delegates assignments for the requisitions for ordering of medications, surgical supplies
Minimum Qualifications
1. A valid New York State license and current registration to practice as a Registered Professional Nurse in New York State; and
2. Holds, or obtains through facility orientation, a valid and current certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) through the American Heart Association (AHA); and
3. One (1) year of experience as a registered nurse.
