HR Business Partner

This position provides strategic and operational support in partnership with business unit leadership, plans and implements human resources initiatives designed to maximize organizational effectiveness through talent management processes and job/organization design. The HRBP aligns HR initiatives with strategic business objectives and coordinates with other HR functions to execute objectives consistent with Corporate Business and HR strategy, policies, and practices. The HRBP will focus on supporting shop floor employees, Front Line Leaders and Value Stream Managers at each manufacturing facility.

What you'll be doing as an HR Business Partner

The HRBP will help establish a positive and engaging workplace culture by effectively facilitating and resolving employee relations matters. This role collaborates with the Labor Relations team to execute objectives consistent with business and HR strategy, policies, practices, and the collective bargaining agreements.

Key Areas of Responsibility

• Acts as primary contact for employee relations' issues and resolutions.

• HR point of contact between Front Line Leaders, Value Stream Managers, Labor Relations and union covered employees and union representatives.

• Assist in executing certain collective bargaining activities, including contract administration, grievance responses, arbitration preparation, and so forth.

• Identifies and migrates HR best practices on a regional basis through Human Resources leadership.

• Initiates, coordinates, and enforces project, operational, and personnel policies and procedures.

• Collaborates with client groups to manage employee job performance by coaching, counseling, planning, monitoring, and appraising job results.

• Acts as advocate and advisor to employees and leaders regarding career and leadership development initiatives.

• Develops and delivers presentations to leaders and employees regarding HR policies and practices.

• Contributes to team effort by proactively participating in and helping accomplish team objectives.

• Assist in meeting business performance goals through supporting an aligned HR and Employee Relations strategy.

  • May partner with Legal counsel to prepare for and when necessary attend mediations, arbitration, and other court proceedings.
  • Helps drive an environment of engagement, shared success and continuous improvement.
  • Operates within the boundaries of the Textron/Bell Business Conduct Guidelines.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.


What you need to be successful

  • Bachelor's degree in human resources, business administration, or other related field from an accredited college.
  • Minimum 2 years' HR experience.
  • Knowledgeable of applicable state and federal labor and employment laws.
  • High level of trust and demonstrated ability to work collaboratively in a team.
  • Proven ability to work with highly sensitive and confidential data.
  • Demonstrated ability to work and collaborate at all levels within a highly matrixed organization.
  • High customer focus with strong communication, interpersonal and influencing skills.
  • Ability to diagnose problems and drive appropriate solutions
  • Ability to anticipate issues/needs and to work proactively to address them.
  • Strong ability to balance between competing priorities and be flexible and creative in a highly dynamic environment.
  • Prior direct experience with positive employee relations and/or working in a unionized environment.
  • Strategic thinker with strong organizational, project management and facilitation skills.
  • Developed analytical skills and ability to mine business intelligence, assess data, and draw conclusions.
  • Experience in manufacturing or technology industry.
