IBM i Systems Manager
Contract onsite 3 days a week - Cypress Texas

Join us in shaping the future of our IBM i ecosystem! We're seeking an experienced
leader to champion the optimization and maintenance of our IBM i systems. As the
IBM i Systems Manager, you will collaborate with a Managed Service Provider (MSP)
and internal teams to ensure our IBM i environment runs smoothly and efficiently.
Key Responsibilities:
• Lead a team of skilled IBM i technicians, providing mentorship and support.
• Collaborate with the MSP to seamlessly integrate their services with our IBM i
environment.
• Provide technical support and guidance to internal and external stakeholders.
• Oversee software installations, updates, and upgrades for the IBM i operating
system.
• Manage projects to ensure objectives are met within budget and timeline
constraints.
• Develop and enforce security policies to safeguard sensitive data and
applications.
• Work with the security team to address vulnerabilities and maintain
compliance standards.
• Assist in developing and testing backup and disaster recovery plans.
• Monitor system performance and identify areas for optimization.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support application deployment and
troubleshooting.
• Maintain up-to-date documentation of system configurations and procedures.
Scope:
• Ensure alignment with organizational expectations and goals.
• Implement policies and procedures to drive efficiency and compliance.
• Make decisions guided by business objectives and policies.
• Provide guidance and training to team members.
• Authority to hire, set performance goals, and recommend termination.
Knowledge & Skills:
• Extensive experience in IBM i system administration.
• Proficiency in IBM i programming languages, such as RPG.
• Strong knowledge of system security best practices.
• Familiarity with high availability and redundancy solutions.
• Excellent troubleshooting and communication skills.
Experience:
• 10+ years in a related field.
• 5+ years in a leadership position.
Education/Certification:
• Bachelor's degree in computer science or related field, or equivalent
experience.
