Optimized Process Designs, LLC is seeking an Instrumentation and Electrical Project lead (I&E) who is responsible for supporting and actively participating in the E&I engineering facets of an EPC project - from early development phase to commissioning and turnover.

Our Team

Optimized Process Designs, LLC (OPD) is an engineering/construction company headquartered in Katy, TX with an expertise in the natural gas, natural gas liquids, and petrochemical industries. OPD is part of the larger Koch Engineered Solutions (KES) organization which provides a variety of capabilities across many industries. Originally incorporated in 1980, OPD has developed a strong reputation for honesty, integrity, and ability to successfully execute projects. OPD has a key advantage in being able to supply construction services as well as engineering/procurement. This enables clients to have a one stop shop for the overall project, providing increased efficiency and avoiding potential interface problems. What You Will Do

  • Promote a "safety first" culture throughout all efforts
  • Support the execution of engineering activities including scheduling, project controls, procurement, and construction
  • Support in the specification and design of DCS, SIS, PLC, and Electrical Distribution Systems
  • Support in the development of the Instrument and Controls design including Instrument Index, I/O List, process control philosophy, PCS architecture, logic diagram, cause & effects, and control narratives
  • Support in the development of the Electrical design including one-line, load list, schematics diagrams, wiring diagrams, hazardous area classification, grounding, plant layouts, lighting, and perform basic calculation.
  • Participate in development of P&IDs, equipment, and instrument procurement packages.
  • Participate in coordination of design activities with other disciplines (Process, Mechanical, Civil/Structural, etc.)
  • Participate in workshops and meetings, including risk, value, PHA/HAZID/HAZOP, safety in design, operability/maintainability, and constructability
  • Provide input and assistance to team members as required to resolve engineering, design, and construction issues.
  • Support in the preparation of estimates and range analyses
  • Interact and communicate effectively with internal clients, external clients, subcontractors, vendors and other consultants
  • Provide short term field support during construction and commissioning
  • Provide field support to undertake Factory Acceptance Tests


Who You Are (Basic Qualifications)

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering or related field
