Minimum Qualifications

Requires at least a baccalaureate degree in the field. Please contact your Human Resources office for an evaluation of education/experience in lieu of the required minimum qualifications.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in managing client-facing IT services and/or IT support professionals.
  • Modern desktop management, VDI and desktop-as-a-service solutions (DaaS) experience.
  • Cloud cost management experience.
  • Asset and Inventory Lifecycle Management experience
  • Certifications in cloud platforms like AWS Certified Solutions Architect, Google Professional Cloud Architect, or Microsoft Certified: Azure Solutions Architect Expert.


Position Summary

The EITS Client Technology Services (CTS) team plays a critical role in providing development and technical support for hardware, software, and client-facing cloud services within our organization. As the IT Manager for Client Technology Services, you will lead a team of IT professionals while optimizing client-facing services for both internal EITS and cost-recovery clients. Your responsibilities will span from building strong client relationships, managing modern desktops, assets and cloud services to implementing effective service strategies and leading a team of dedicated IT professionals.

  • Familiarity with Microsoft Endpoint Manager (Intune), Autopilot, JAMF, Tanium, WEPA Cloud Campus Printing Solution, Active Directory and Azure Active Directory.
  • Providing IT support in a physical and virtual desktop environment.
Management and Leadership Experience:
  • Previous experience managing teams and driving results.
  • Willingness to develop management and leadership skills in areas such as team development, emotional intelligence, conflict resolution and culture of service.

Modern Desktop and Asset Management

Desktop Deployment and Maintenance:
  • Oversee deployment, configuration and maintenance of desktop hardware and software for internal and cost-recovery clients.
  • Oversee virtual desktop infrastructure (VDI) solutions and explore desktop-as-a-service (DaaS) solutions.
  • Communicate changes to end-users and manage expectations during migrations and upgrades

Inventory Management:
  • Build, maintain, and regularly update unit desktop and laptop inventory.
  • Evaluate asset requirements and coordinate their acquisition

Asset Strategy:
  • Develop comprehensive asset management strategy considering organizational goals, risk, compliance and cost-effectiveness.
  • Create and implement policies for asst acquisition, maintenance and disposal.

Lifecycle Oversight:
  • Plan and budget for asset acquisition.
  • Manage procurement process for EITS Staff Refresh
  • Ensure proper deployment and utilization
  • Oversee maintenance, upgrades, and surplus of equipment

Monitor and Manage Cloud Costs:
  • Understand the billing and cost structures of cloud service providers (such as Azure and AWS).
  • Identify trends and usage patterns to optimize cloud costs.
  • Develop and implement strategies that balance cost savings with performance and scalability.
Financial Impact Assessment:
  • Evaluate the financial impact of managed cloud services on the organization.
  • Provide insights into cost-saving opportunities and potential risks.

  • Generate regular reports on asset management, cloud spending, cost recovery efforts, and optimization initiatives.

  • Provide strategic recommendations to senior management for cost recovery rate development and cost optimization.
  • Work closely with stakeholders to forecast future technology needs.
  • Identify opportunities to reduce costs without compromising quality or efficiency.
