The IT Professional position at University of Colorado Business School is an entry-level role within the Information Technology Services department. This role primarily focuses on providing technical support and assistance to faculty, staff, and students within the business school. The IT Professional will play a crucial role in maintaining and troubleshooting IT systems, software, and hardware to ensure uninterrupted operations within the university environment.

IT Professional

  • Provide frontline technical support to end-users via in-person, phone, email, and remote assistance channels.
  • Install, configure, and maintain computer hardware, software, and peripherals.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues related to operating systems, applications, network connectivity, and other IT-related problems.
  • Assist in the setup and support of audiovisual equipment for classrooms, meetings, and events.
  • Collaborate with IT team members to deploy software updates, patches, and security fixes.
  • Assist in scheduling AV support for events, meetings, and classes.
  • Document technical procedures, troubleshooting steps, and resolutions for knowledge sharing and reference purposes.
  • Provide guidance and assistance to users on IT policies, procedures, and best practices.
  • Contribute to IT projects and initiatives aimed at enhancing the overall efficiency and effectiveness of IT services across the university.

Conditions of Employment

  • Occasional work during the evening and/or weekends may be required to support University events or address critical IT issues.
  • Some Hybrid work may be available.
  • Some lifting and physical activity may be required when setting up or moving computer equipment and peripherals.

Compensation and Benefits

The salary range (or hiring range) for this position has been established at the following levels $64,819 - $71,642.

The salary of the finalist(s) selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to, internal equity, experience, education, specialty, and training.

The above salary range (or hiring range) represents the University's good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting.

This position is not eligible for overtime compensation.

Qualifications

Qualifications you already possess (Minimum Qualifications)

  • Bachelor's degree in information technology, Computer Science, or a related field preferred or substitution of experience.
  • One (1) year of related professional experience in System Administration, Network Configuration, Software Installation, Troubleshooting, Customer Service, Technical Support."


Substitution: A combination of education and related technical/paraprofessional experience may be substituted for the bachelor's degree on a year for year basis.

Preferred Qualification to possess (Preferred Qualifications)

  • Relevant IT certifications (e.g., CompTIA A+, Microsoft Certified Professional, Cisco Certified Entry Networking Technician)
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to interact professionally with individuals at all levels.
  • Strong technical skills in troubleshooting and supporting Windows and macOS operating systems.
  • Strong problem-solving abilities and attention to detail.
