D.R. Horton, Inc. is currently looking for an IT Sr. Instructional Designer. The IT Sr. Instructional Designer will generate business value by creating effective and engaging learning experiences utilizing a Digital Adaption Platform (DAP) and a Learning Management System (LMS) for users of D.R. Horton's (DRH) integrated applications.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Gather input and create a 1-3-year training development strategy that delivers a reliable learning content stream for improving job performance, communicating the DR Horton cultural expectations, and supporting technical system utilization
  • Perform training needs analysis and learning content development, which includes collaborating with key stakeholders throughout the company
  • Develop style and standard guides and associated development templates
  • Analyze job functions, identifying learning needs and to create a curriculum content structure that is matrixed, scalable, and adaptable
  • Develop and maintain intimate knowledge of (DRH) business practices, applications and systems
  • Create training materials, including job aids, software system user documentation, and web-based training/eLearning modules
  • Self-manage assigned development work with stakeholders to accomplish goals and effectively schedule resources, prioritize work, mitigate obstacles, and communicate status
  • Train employees by developing and delivering classroom courses, on-line learning modules, technical materials, announcements and help files within applications
  • Create onboarding and role-specific training for tools, application, and best practices
  • Work closely with deployment team to understand business processes, system utilization, challenges, and value propositions
  • Engage with deployment team to understand and improve processes, training opportunities and effectiveness
  • Partner with design team to incorporate strategy and direction of newly developed and pending systems in learning strategy
  • Create a process that ensures learning systems incorporate all changes, enhancements, and modifications to software applications
  • Regularly assess and enhance effectiveness of learning systems, tools, content, and strategy
  • Keep abreast of industry changes for improvement of learning systems and delivery methods
  • Conducts all business in a professional and ethical manner to serve customers and increase the goodwill and profit of the company


Qualifications

Education and/or Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Instructional Design, Curriculum Development, Information Technology, Technical Writing or a related field
  • 10 years of experience as an instructional designer, learning manager or similar position
  • Prior instructional design project management
  • Demonstrated knowledge of modern educational techniques, delivery methods and industry trends
  • Experience in Learning Management Systems (LMS's), Digital Adoption Platforms (DAP's), and/or Learning Experience Platforms (LXP's)
  • In-depth knowledge of Microsoft Office applications, document management systems, computer hardware functions, PC operation and a range of software applications
  • Exceptional written and verbal communications skills
  • Ability to present complex information to a variety of audiences, explain technical terms plainly
  • Superb organizational and time management skills with a focus on details
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written oral form or via DRH applications
  • Proficiency with MS Office and email
