The State Personnel Office (SPO)is responsible for the administration and oversight of the classified service personnel system which consists of approximately 17,000 state employees from approximately 68 executive state agencies, boards and commissions.

Why does the job exist?

This is the sole IT position at SPO that provides IT support to all SPO employees.

How does it get done?

Duties of this position include:
* Providing technical support to SPO employees
* Oversee current hardware, software, and technical equipment
* Website maintenance
* System and Network coordination
* Perform IT Security functions
* Assist with strategic planning and oversee technology inventory

Ideal Candidate

The ideal candidate will have the following experience:
* General IT experience including desktop support
* Customer service skills
* Troubleshooting IT issues and formulating possible solutions for resolution
* Collaborative working relationship with other IT providers to problem solve technical issues
* Strong work ethic
* Attention to detail

Minimum Qualification

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Management Information Systems (MIS), Information Technology, Engineering or similar technical degree and two (2) years of experience in systems administration. Substitutions Apply. See Substitution Table below.

Employment Requirements

Must possess and maintain a valid Driver's License. Must possess and maintain a current Defensive Driving Course Certificate from the State of New Mexico or must pass and receive Defensive Driving Course Certification as a condition of continued employment.

Working Conditions

Work is performed in an office setting with exposure to Visual/Video Display Terminal (VDT) and extensive phone and personal computer usage. Direct client interaction and some travel may be required. Must be able to operate a motor vehicle.
