The Tulane Center for Cellular and Molecular Diagnostics is recruiting a technician to assist senior members of the lab with their scientific experiments related in molecular biology and bioengineering for technologies in the fields of cancer and infectious diseases.• A thorough understanding of how Mass Spectrometry works, basic chemistry and biology, routine cell culture and protein extraction.
• A thorough understanding of the quantitative criteria involved in selecting analytical methods (e.g., precision, accuracy/bias, sensitivity, detection and quantification limits, sensitivity, and dynamic range) and their corresponding figures of merit.
• Demonstrated knowledge of LC-MS/MS.
• Demonstrated knowledge of mass spectral libraries.
• Ability to perform routine maintenance and troubleshooting.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Good mathematical skills and experience performing calculations in Excel.• Bachelor's degree and one year of basic laboratory research experience.• Familiarity and prior experience running Mass Spectrometry instruments will be viewed favorably.
