The Laboratory Research Technician for the Department of Microbiology will primarily be responsible for (1) organizing and performing cellular and some animal studies (including mouse breeding/genotyping, viral infections, sample collection, etc), (2) performing benchtop immunologic assays (including Western Blots, qRT-PCR, ELISA, tissue culture, plaque assays), (3) bacterial culture and protein purification with biochemical characterization (including DNA isolation, recombination and cloning, and SDS-PAGE gels), (4) ordering supplies and maintaining laboratory receipts and safety paperwork. This work will require teamwork and coordination with other lab members, maintenance of accurate and timely records of experimental procedures and results, and maintaining supply inventories for the laboratory.• Strong organizational skills
• Familiarity with the principles of molecular biology and immunology

• Ability to independently work on research assignments
• Bachelor's Degree from a four-year college or university; or one to two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.• Bachelor's Degree in a Biological Science
• Research experience with protein purification and immunologic methods.

• Experience specifically in HPLC, PCR, recombinant cloning, protein quantification, SDS-PAGE, and Western blot is beneficial.
