Job Summary:

The Morrison Laboratory at the University of Colorado Anschutz Medical Campus is a dynamic, fast-paced research laboratory focused on viral immunology and medical countermeasure development (i.e., therapeutics and vaccines). We seek a new team member to take a lead role in laboratory and research program management. This is an exciting opportunity to join a fantastic group of scientists and develop key skills in project management. In addition, opportunities exist to learn cutting-edge research techniques at the forefront of immunological and infectious disease research.

This position is for an open Laboratory Science Professional position in the Department of Immunology & Microbiology in the laboratory of Dr. Tem Morrison. Entry, Intermediate, and Senior Laboratory Science Professionals perform duties in an experimental lab, or wet lab, and handle a variety of chemicals and/or potential "wet" hazards. Entry, Intermediate, and Senior Laboratory Science Professionals perform duties in laboratories where chemicals, drugs, animals, or other materials or biological matters are tested and analyzed. This specific position in the Morrison Laboratory is focused on laboratory and research program management, laboratory-based experimental biology, and will involve work with animals. Some Assignments will not move beyond the Senior level.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with and support Principal Investigators (PI) and other stakeholders with laboratory and research functions
  • Order, inventory, organize, curate, and ship laboratory reagents
  • Prepare lab for daily operations, including stocking materials, equipment, safety, cleanliness, and related areas
  • Provide management of the laboratory animal colony including genotyping
  • Pick up, transport, and maintain results, samples, documents, materials and other items as needed
  • Dispose of laboratory materials and samples using well established guidelines and instructions
  • Review, complete and process logs, documents, databases, and related materials and information
  • Provide support researching issues and developing recommendations to resolve process, unit and related issues

Onsite - This role is expected to work onsite and is located in Aurora, CO.

Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications:

Entry Level:

  • Bachelor's degree in biology, immunology, microbiology, molecular biology, chemistry, genetics, or related field.


Intermediate Level:

  • Bachelor's degree in biology, immunology, microbiology, molecular biology, chemistry, genetics, or related field.
  • One (1) year of professional-level research experience.


Senior Level:

  • Bachelor's degree in biology, immunology, microbiology, molecular biology, chemistry, genetics, or related field.
  • Two (2) years of professional-level research experience.


A combination of education and related technical/paraprofessional experience may be substituted for the bachelor's degree on a year for year basis.

Applicants must meet minimum qualifications at the time of hire.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master's degree in biology, molecular biology, chemistry, genetics or related field
  • Three (3) years of experience in an experimental or wet laboratory
  • Prior experience in one or more of the following is an advantage: cell culture, recombinant DNA techniques, work with viral or other human pathogens, animal handling, breeding, and inoculation, BSL3 experience, flow cytometry
  • Prior experience related to one or more of the following research areas will be viewed favorably: genetics, immunology, cell biology

Anticipated Pay Range:

The starting salary range (or hiring range) for this position has been established as:

Entry Level: $45,000 - $57,240

Intermediate Level: $48,970 - $62,290

Senior Level: $52,941 - $67,341

The above salary range (or hiring range) represents the University's good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting. This position may be eligible for overtime compensation, depending on the level.
