Job Summary:

The University of Colorado Department of Pediatric Orthopedics has an opening for a Clinical Science Research Professional. The primary focus of these positions will be to provide research coordination and management for Principal Investigator James Carollo.

Clinical Science Professionals perform clinical research related functions which may include patient-oriented research or research conducted with human subjects. Patient-oriented research includes mechanisms of human disease, therapeutic interventions, clinical trials, or development of new technologies. Clinical Science Professionals may also assist with epidemiologic and behavioral studies and/or outcomes research and health services research. This position is housed within the Center for Gait and Movement Analysis (CGMA) at Children's Hospital Colorado.

Supervision Received: This position will report directly to the Research Program Manager Deirdre Rafferty and indirectly to Dr. James Carollo.

Key Responsibilities:

Entry & Intermediate

  • Assist with and oversee the day-to-day operations of clinical trials and studies
  • Obtain study subject's medical history and current medication information, reviews research protocol inclusion/exclusion criteria, and confirms eligibility of subject to participate in clinical trial
  • Perform informed consent process or ensures that the informed consent process has occurred, is properly documented, and that informed consent form documents are filed as required
  • Interact with prospective subjects for a variety of research studies. Educate potential subjects on the details of the studies through phone contacts and personal interaction
  • Schedule subject participation in research clinical trial, coordinating availability of necessary space, and clinical research support (e.g., physician, nurse practitioner, laboratory, radiology, pharmacy)
  • Collect, code, and analyze data obtained from research in an accurate and timely manner
  • Adhere to research regulatory standards

Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications:

Entry Level

  • Bachelor's degree in any field


Intermediate Level

  • Bachelor's degree in any field
  • One (1) year clinical research or related experience


Applicants must meet minimum qualifications at the time of hire not at time of application.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in science, engineering, or health related field
  • Previous experience with software programs such as REDCap, OnCore and EPIC are preferred.
  • Experience with electronic data capture systems (e.g. EMR or EHR and data management systems)
  • Previous experience with gait or movement analysis, biomechanics, or human performance measurement
  • Experience with analytical or biomechanical software and/or programming languages such as MATLAB, Vicon Nexus, Visual 3D, C+, Python, etc.


Entry Level

  • Clinical research or related experience


Intermediate Level

  • Two (2) years of clinical research or related experience
  • Master's degree in science, engineering, or health related field


Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Knowledge and understanding of federal regulations and Good Clinical Practice (GCP)
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both in writing and orally
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees at all levels throughout the institution
  • Ability to effectively navigate multiple studies and prioritize appropriately
  • Demonstrated commitment and leadership ability to advance diversity and inclusion
  • Knowledge of basic human anatomy, physiology medical terminology
  • Ability to interpret and master complex research protocol information
  • Highly self-directed and organized with a strict attention to detail
  • Commitment to the research mission of the Department of Orthopedics, the Musculoskeletal Research Center, and the Center for Gait and Movement Analysis

The starting salary range (or hiring range) for this position has been established as:

Entry: $47,743 - $60,729

Intermediate: $51,956 - $66,088

The above hiring range represents the University's good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting. This position may be eligible for overtime compensation depending on the level.
