The LDA Drive will join the ROAD MAP (Rural Health and Older ADult Interprofessional Mobile HeAlth Program) team.

ROAD MAP is an initiative led by the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga School of Nursing that assists older adults living in rural Tennessee counties who are at a higher risk for developing chronic diseases, cognitive disorders, and poor health outcomes due to a lack of access to health care, continuity of treatment and resources.

The position will be responsible for the safe operation/driving of the agency vehicle, proper running and maintenance/cleaning of the vehicle, and management of needed repairs (emergency and routine).

Duties and Responsibilities:

Drives Mobile Health Clinic to and from assigned locations as directed; maintains awareness of potential risk to clients, staff and facility while operating the MHC; and performs all routine interior/exterior cleaning services to van.

Completes and maintains associated logs, paperwork and reports including, but not limited to, the following:

  • Maintains daily log of vehicle mileage hours.
  • Completes driver vehicle evaluation form weekly.
  • Maintains log of routine inspections of vehicle, daily, weekly and monthly.
  • Report departure and arrival times on a daily basis along with task tracking reports to show work performed.


Performs routine maintenance to include but not limited to painting, plastering, minor carpentry, minor electrical, automotive and plumbing as directed by Management; and performs other related duties as assigned.

The ideal candidate will possess the following:

  • Basic automotive knowledge
  • Interest in and conviction of purpose and aims for all programs in the clinic.
  • Respect for the rights of individuals to make their own decisions about their medical care.
  • Ability to communicate easily and display a cordial manner towards individuals from a variety of socio-economic, cultural and religious backgrounds.
  • Prioritize work to complete assignments in a timely manner.


This position is a Limited Duration Appointment (LDA).

A Limited Duration Appointment (LDA) is a form of regular employment for a specific project or for a limited period. An LDA may be established for up to one year with an option to renew the appointment annually for a maximum of three years. Please note that this position may be converted to a permanent position prior to or at the conclusion of three years, funding dependent.

Minimum qualifications: High school diploma or GED; and a driver's license with good driving record.

Preferred Qualifications: CDL B License (Air Brakes); one year's experience as a driver of a mobile van, E.M.S. vehicle, or operator of a vehicle under similar circumstances, preferably medically related; and ability to speak Spanish.
