Position Overview

Able to work independently to support the global design, implementation, and maintenance of private and public network infrastructure. Provides guidance and expertise to management and users on topics surrounding strategy and best practices. Acts as a resource for colleagues with less experience and may supervise a small team of individual contributors. Solves complex problems and takes a new perspective on existing solutions. Exercises judgment based on the analysis of multiple sources of information. Advanced individual contributor who works on highly complex problems, tasks, or projects.

Responsibilities

  1. Leads and coordinates maintenance and upgrade of networks, including servers, routers, switches, firewalls, remote access systems, and network management systems.
  2. Accountable for appropriate monitoring of network connectivity and ensures high quality data transmission. Provides technical support to various departments and users with regards to LAN/MAN/WAN (local/metropolitan/wide area networks) and cloud-based networks.
  3. Serve as a liaison with vendors and other third-party providers.
  4. Leads the design of public and/or private networks including LAN/MAN/WAN (local/metropolitan/wide area networks). Design work includes placement and specification of servers, routers, switches, firewalls, wireless controllers, WAP's, remote access systems, and network management systems.
  5. Serve as a liaison to network engineers, vendors, and other third-party providers in the installation of network infrastructure.
  6. Leads capacity planning, disaster recovery planning, and disaster recovery testing.
  7. Provides regular status, operational, incident, and change reports.
  8. May supervise or manage four or fewer employees, and responsible for team's performance; coaches and mentors team members.
  9. Performs other duties as assigned.


Requirements

EDUCATION :

Required:

Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience

EXPERIENCE:

Required:
  • 8+ years enterprise networking experience
  • Advanced knowledge of networking concepts and data center layout
  • Routing protocols e.g., BGP, OSPF, EIGRP, SDWAN, Cloud Networks
  • Network Management platforms e.g., SolarWinds, DataDog, ThousandEyes
  • Advanced oral and written communication skills demonstrating ability to share and impart knowledge
  • Ability to quickly adapt to new methods, work under tight deadlines and stressful conditions
  • Advanced investigative, analytical and problem solving skills
  • Advanced ability to set goals and handle multiple tasks, clients, and projects simultaneously
  • Ability to appropriately balance priorities, deadlines, and deliverables
  • Ability to work well within a team environment and participate in department/team projects
  • Advanced ability to translate business needs and problems into viable/accepted solutions
  • Advanced oral and written communication skills demonstrating ability to share and impart knowledge
  • Advanced skills in customer relationship management and change management
  • Ability to manage multiple projects or and set applicable goals
  • Advanced negotiating and persuasion skills
  • Ability to liaise with individuals across a wide variety of operational, functional, and technical disciplines
  • General business knowledge

Preferred:
  • 10+ years' enterprise networking experience
  • Insurance industry knowledge
  • Financial industry knowledge
  • Network certifications, CCNA, CCNP, CCIE

TECHNICAL REQUIREMENTS:

Required:
  • Advanced expertise with network routing, switching, virtual private networks, wireless, WAN acceleration, protocol analysis, and Internet protocols
  • Advanced knowledge of Cisco routing, switching, and wireless
  • Advanced skills of network cabling design and maintenance
  • Advanced expertise configuring, installing, and maintaining VoIP telephony
  • Advanced skills utilizing networking testing and design tools
  • Advanced expertise and knowledge of cloud networking
  • Advanced knowledge of firewall systems, DMZ, and network security design
  • Advanced knowledge of unix and unix-based security systems
  • Willingness and ability to travel to global locations to support regional offices

Preferred:
  • Advanced experience with software defined networking
  • Advanced knowledge of VoIP/TDM
  • Advanced knowledge of Aruba wireless

The general pay range for this position is $101,685 - $151,435per year. Base pay varies depending on job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and market location. In addition, RGA provides an annual bonus plan that includes all roles, and some positions are eligible for participation in our long-term equity incentive plan. RGA maintains a full range of health, retirement, and other employee benefits.
