  • Act as an integral project team member, supporting quality-related aspects of design, fabrication and test activities from the proposal stage through project execution, product delivery and warranty service activities.
  • Provide technical guidance for quality program implementation on government and commercial projects conducted under recognized quality standards for activities including design, analysis, inspection and testing.
  • Oversee quality management system audits and customer surveillances to determine and evaluate the level of compliance on projects.
  • Lead department staff with developing and implementing corrective and preventive actions resulting from audits.
  • Interface with project engineers and department management, as well as customer, supplier, and contract representatives as necessary on quality-related topics.
  • Formulate & implement quality assurance engineering procedures at both the program and project levels.

  • Lead the implementation of, and verify compliance to quality plans to ensure contractual quality requirements are met.
  • Review solicitations, contribute to proposals and cost estimates to address quality requirements.
  • Perform contract reviews.
  • Review purchase requisitions and coordinate inspection, test monitoring and surveillance programs to verify compliance.
  • Lead the review and disposition of nonconforming product and perform investigation and analysis to determine root cause, corrective action, preventative action, and effectiveness.
  • Design & implement quality assurance process sampling systems, procedures, and statistical techniques (metrics & trending).
  • Communicate and coordinate daily with project personnel and other department QA staff, project engineers, and management.
  • Create and deliver quality assurance presentations.
  • Conduct training on program/project/system quality topics.

  • Requires a Bachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial/Manufacturing Engineering, Naval Architecture/Marine Engineering, Aeronautics/Aerospace Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Physics, or closely related degree with related experience.
  • 6+ years: Experience in a fabrication, production, manufacturing, or research environment is required. Experience in implementing a Quality Management System in a manufacturing environment is preferred.
  • 6+ years: Familiarity with quality standards such as ISO 9001 or ISO 17025 is required. Familiarity with ASME, NAVSEA, AS9100, P-9290, NOTE 5000, NQA-1, ABS and/or SUBSAFE is a plus.
  • 6+ years: Experience working as a contributor to a project team is required. Familiarity with drawing review is required. Familiarity with reliability or statistical processes is a plus.
  • 6+ years: Internal or external quality auditing experience is a plus. Must have excellent communication skills to work with project staff, management, and representatives of the client, suppliers, or regulatory agencies. A valid/clear driver's license is required.
