  • Description: This course provides a foundational understanding of statistics, tailored specifically to address challenges encountered in healthcare management and administration. Throughout the curriculum, students delve into fundamental concepts such as probability theory, sampling distributions, hypothesis testing, analysis of variance, and both simple and multiple regression analysis. Emphasizing practical application, the course equips students with the ability to discern the most suitable statistical methods for analyzing various issues and effectively translating statistical insights into actionable solutions within real-world healthcare scenarios.

Required Qualifications*

Candidate should have an advanced degree (masters/doctorate) in statistics, biostatistics, data science, or other closely related field. Experience or expertise in applying statistical methods to healthcare management and administration contexts such as experience working in healthcare organizations, conducting research in healthcare analytics, or collaborating with healthcare professionals. Candidate should have prior teaching experience, specifically with graduate or professional students or those in healthcare-related fields.

Desired Qualifications*

We seek an experienced and dynamic lecturer with a commitment to contributing to a diverse, equitable and inclusive environment for all members of our community. Familiarity with UM's Health Management and Policy department and with the Canvas learning management platform is a plus. This course will be delivered online including both synchronous and asynchronous components, so experience with online teaching is preferred.

This position is covered under the collective bargaining agreement between the U-M and the Lecturers Employee Organization, AFL-CIO, which contains and settles all matters with respect to wages, benefits, hours and other terms and conditions of employment.

Selection Process

This position will be posted for 10 days. This appointment will be for Fall term, 2024. Classes begin August 26 with exams as late as December 18. This appointment will be from August 26, 2024 - December 31, 2024. An offer for this position is expected to be made by July 1, 2024. This appointment opportunity is subject to final approval by Health Management & Policy.
