Summary

Integrative Systems + Design (ISD) is an innovative academic unit in the College of Engineering (CoE) that is dedicated to educating leaders who can think transformatively and create lasting value in the workplace and society. ISD seeks applicants for the position of Intermittent Lecturer beginning Fall 2024 term. This position may involve the development, design, and teaching of graduate courses at the dynamic intersection of new knowledge domains using action-based learning while focusing on innovation, creativity, user-centered design, business sense, and design thinking. The expected percentage of effort for one course is 30% per term.

Responsibilities*

• Intermittently teach assigned ISD courses starting in Fall 2024 with the Design Science course, Analytical Product Design (DESCI 501).
• Support students through a course project from product definition to concept generation to prototyping to design verification and business plan.
• Evaluate, grade, and provide timely feedback on student work and projects
• Hold regular office hours, virtually and in-person

Required Qualifications*

• Relevant advanced degree, experience, and/or acknowledgment as an expert in the field of design science
• Relevant, high quality teaching experience with exemplary student evaluations, and/or the equivalent of teaching/training roles in industry
• Extensive experience and knowledge of aspects of design science, including human-centered design, system thinking, service design, interaction design, business models, etc.
• Must be capable of working independently and making effective presentations
• Ability to interact effectively, respectfully, and diplomatically with individuals of all backgrounds and at all organizational levels, and to apply best practices in fostering diversity, equity, and inclusion principles.

Desired Qualifications*

• Experience teaching hybrid on-campus/online courses in academia or in industry
• Experience teaching design science subject matter formally, in workshop settings, in industry, etc.
• Industrial experience in design within organizations
• Leadership in a multidisciplinary team environment
• International teaching and consulting experience
• Proven record of collaboration with industry partners
