Job Description:
Maintenance Specialist I
The Maintenance Specialist I performs routine-skilled work in repairing and maintaining state building sites and equipment at San Angelo State SLC campus.

The Maintenance Specialist I may perform duties in various maintenance controlled departments as needed for relief purposes will include some weekend, after hour callout, and shift work as needed.

The Maintenance Specialist I works under the general supervision of the department Team Leader and/or the Maintenance & Operations Supervisor.

The Maintenance Specialist must be skilled in various type painting, working both inside and outside.

The Maintenance Specialist must be skilled in mud and tape work on dry wall construction and repair

The Maintenance Specialist Performs semi-skilled carpentry work and glass installation.

The Maintenance Specialist Performs semi-skilled repairs and construction in other trade areas.

Completion of work requires use of established methods and/or techniques and decisions are varied but based on well-defined guidelines.

The Maintenance Specialist I has no financial responsibility, but is accountable for assigned property

Essential Job Functions:
Attends work on a regular basis and may be required to work a specific shift schedule or, at times, even a rotating schedule, extended shift and/or overtime in accordance with agency leave policy and performs other duties as assigned.
Performs routine-skilled building maintenance work including painting repairs and other duties as needed.
Performs routine-skilled repairs and construction in other areas as needed.
Performs all types of preventive maintenance.
Drives maintenance vehicles to perform essential job duties throughout employment.
Other duties as assigned include but are not limited to actively participating and/or serving in a supporting role to meet the agency's obligations for disaster response and/or recovery or Continuity of Operations (COOP) activation. Such participation may require an alternate shift pattern assignment and/or location.

Knowledge Skills Abilities:
1. Experience in various type painting, carpentry, plumbing, electrical working both inside and outside.
2. Experience in mud and tape work on dry wall construction and repair
3. Ability to perform some carpentry work and glass installation.
4. Ability to perform some repairs and construction in other trade areas.
5. Ability to use tools and equipment of the painting and maintenance trade.

Registration or Licensure Requirements:
May be required to obtain certifications as needed to complete job.

Initial Selection Criteria:
1. Completion of 8 grade
2. 1 year of experience in building maintenance repairs.
3. 1 year experience in various type painting, working both inside and outside is preferred.
4. 1 year experience in mud and tape work on dry wall construction and repair is preferred.

Additional Information:
Applicants must pass a fingerprint criminal background check, pre-employment drug screen, and registry checks including the Client Abuse/Neglect Reporting System (CANRS), Nurse Aide, Medication Aide and Employee Misconduct and HHS OIG List of Excluded Individuals/ Entities. Flexibility in work hours may be required for this position. The position may be required to work overtime and/or extended hours.
