Maintenance Supervisor - 3rd shift

Description

Helps repair and maintain company's machinery to keep production running. Help Maintenance Manager and Day Shift Maintenance Supervisor in everyday maintenance operations. Manage and coordinate work performed within the Maintenance Organization utilizing both SAP/EAM and hard copies of information. Organizes, prepares and implements planned and emergency maintenance work activities for the department. Generates and schedules maintenance work orders and tracks department objectives and generates reports and analysis. Assists the Maintenance Manager and Day Shift Maintenance Supervisor as required and interfaces with storeroom, purchasing, production department, operating personnel and maintenance craftsmen. 10pm to 7am, days off TBD

• Assist the Maintenance Manager as needed.
• Interfaces with Maintenance Manager to drive details of work orders and projects. Collects information and organizes, plans, schedules, and reviews it according to the processes and procedures.
• Correct Kronos errors by direct reports and monitor attendance points.

• Mentors maintenance mechanics by providing direction, guidance and training or progressive discipline as needed
• Train and coach new hires
• Provide training for new procedures and/or policies
• Complete all preventative maintenance work orders within the allotted time
• Improve maintenance productivity and reduce work order backlogs through planning work schedules and standards of work.
• Assist with everyday/ routine maintenance issues and repairs
• Manage, follow up and complete items from pass down meetings
• Assign daily jobs, PM's, and work orders
• Maintain, repair, and rebuild mechanical, electrical equipment and machinery
• Address and distribute work orders for repairs and maintenance
• Troubleshoot machinery/equipment and make needed repairs
• Monitor boiler, ammonia refrigeration and plant air systems
• Make daily rounds and log in data
• Verify daily plant utility chemical testing in complete
• Clean and sanitize tools to maintain in serviceable condition
• Communicate with the Purchasing Agent to ensure needed parts are ordered and proper inventories are in place
• Electronically completes / verifies time and any materials removed from stock in SAP

• Clean and maintain shop and work area up to 5S standards
• Champions LSW, 5S and other Kaizen programs
• Drives department employees to complete Dairy U training within the allowable timeframe
• Complete required safety observations to improve the health and safety of all team members
• Maintain safe working conditions for employees and compliance with all state and federal regulations regarding health and safety issues
• Dedicate effort to safety as we expect every employee to leave work in the same condition as they arrive
• Follow all DFA good manufacturing practices (GMP) and work in a manner consistent with all corporate regulatory, food safety, quality, and sanitation requirements

• Exhibit the values and ethics of Dairy Farmers of America through honesty, discretion, and sound judgment
• Adhere to all DFA Quality, Safety and GMP policies and procedures and report any nonconformity

• Attend required training, including but not limited to, Safety, GMP, Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Point (HACCP), and Safe Quality Foods (SQF)
• Responsible for monitoring and taking corrective actions when necessary for a critical control point as part of the plant HACCP plan
• Ensure that all documentation is done correctly and turned in promptly
• Perform periodic and annual performance reviews for assigned hourly employees

Requirements
Education and Experience

• High School Diploma or GED required
• 3+ years in food or manufacturing
• Must have own basic tools

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

• Basic understanding of Boiler and Ammonia Refrigeration systems
• Basic electric skills
• Has a basic knowledge of welding and metal fabrication and plumbing
• Must be able to understand and troubleshoot mechanical equipment and machinery

• A solid working knowledge should be acquired over time in equipment, servicing, maintenance planning and scheduling, mechanical maintenance, inventory control, materials handling and storage, purchasing and shipping/receiving.
• Ability to exchanging information via telephone communications; group communications such as participating in meetings or group discussions; and composing written communications such as documentation.
• Experience with Allen Bradley PLC programming, Human Machine Interface (HMI), Level transmitters, process controls, Variable Frequency Drives (VFD), Motor Control Centers (MCC), Hydraulics, Pneumatics, Ammonia Refrigeration systems and controls, Boilers, Dairy HTST pasteurizing systems, pumps and pumping systems, packaging vacuum pack machines and packaging systems, required.
• Electrical single phase and three phase voltage experience with troubleshooting abilities of all electrical systems and controls used in the Dairy Industry, required.
• Must be able and willing to write project plans to repair, replace or install parts and equipment and provide guidance throughout implementation. Must be able to document and manage information Managers.
• Must have flexible schedule to work any shift hours, weekends and holidays as needed.
• Must be available to take emergency calls due to machine breakdowns and equipment failure.
• Must be able to read, write and speak English.
• Must be able to lead team to meet department goals .
