Description

• Perform preventive maintenance, emergency repairs and final repairs on all HVAC equipment.

• Diagnose, troubleshoot, disassemble, repair, maintain, and service a variety of HVAC equipment including heavy HVAC equipment.

• Troubleshoot and maintain pneumatic and electrical control systems related to HVAC equipment.

• Ensure air conditioning equipment has the appropriate amount of refrigerant, monitor air movement, and adjust equipment for efficient operations; monitor boiler treatment and adjust as required.

• Repair and install pumps and electric motors to various types of HVAC systems and equipment, and perform swimming pool system maintenance.

• Work and assist other maintenance employees in responding to emergencies and resolve work related issues.

• Operate hand and power tools and other equipment using good safety practices.

• Maintain inventory of tools, equipment and vehicles; inform supervisor of any known problems immediately and provide documentation during inspection and/or inventory of tools, equipment and vehicle, as required. Follow District safety guidelines, using good safety practices for operating hand and power tools and equipment as need for job completion. Wear safety equipment as assigned, at all times.

• Communicate effectively with principals, department heads, district staff, and all other auxiliary services personnel in a professional manner in all phases necessary to locate, correct, repair, and complete each job or project.

• Employee will be required to work overtime as needed to complete jobs including after hour emergencies.

Qualifications

• Required High School Diploma or GED.

• Required Valid Driver's License and a record that meets the District's standard.

• Required Chlorofluorocarbon (CFC) Universal certification.

• Preferred HVAC trade school certification.

• Preferred 3-5 years of direct experience.

• Demonstrated ability to perform responsibilities under general supervision.

• Demonstrated knowledge of the technical crafts utilized within and outside the HVAC function. Ability to work in confined spaces; frequently required to use ladder, climb or balance at a height up to 30 feet.

• Demonstrated organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills required to achieve the goals of the position.

• Demonstrated skills in accurate record keeping and computer data base management, including work orders and material procurement.

• Must pass Dallas ISD random drug test.
