We are accepting applications for a Natural Resources Engineer 3 position within the Division of Water, located at 2045 Morse Road, Columbus, OH 43229 in Franklin County. To learn more about the Division of Water please visit ODNR Division of Water.

What you will do...
The dam safety work unit has a high volume of work responding to dam safety emergencies, inspecting about 300 dams a year, reviewing repair plans, permits, and construction observation and overseeing multiple grant programs. Backfilling this position is important to preserve efficiency in meeting statutory mandates and protecting public health and safety.

Primary duties are:
  • Acts as project manager for assigned projects, including oversight of projects assigned to lower-level engineers
  • Acts as lead inspector and prepares written inspection reports for assigned projects
  • Provides technical assistance and guidance to lower-level staff, consultants, dam owners, and public officials
  • Investigates hazard potential for dams and makes recommendations regarding hazard classification to program managers
  • Attends and participates in meetings, seminars, conferences, and other training opportunities to improve technical knowledge
  • Starting hourly pay of $35.74/hr with multiple pay increases over your first 6.5 years of service, with an end salary of $51.03/hr.
UNUSUAL WORKING CONDITIONS: May be required to work hours outside of normal business hours in the office &/or in the field in the event of a dam safety or flooding emergency.

Qualifications
Certificate of registration as professional engineer issued by State Licensing Board AND 12 mos. exp. as Natural Resources Engineer 2, 85742 or 12 mos. equivalent related engineering experience.

Training & Development Required to Remain in the Classification After Employment: Renewal of Certificate of Registration as Professional Engineer as prescribed by law.
