About Us:

The Ohio Digital Academy (ODA) is seeking a Data Analyst to join our January cohort! The selected analyst will join the Ohio Department of Health (ODH), Office of Informatics, Data, Epidemiology, and Analytics (IDEA) team and will be learning relevant skills and technologies in data analysis disciplines including: SQL, R, SAS, Tableau, data modeling, machine learning, analysis, data visualization, and reporting. As an emerging high-tech hub, Ohio is cultivating an innovation environment and skilled workforce primed to meet the advanced technology and cybersecurity needs of the state's public and private sector employers.

The Ohio Digital Academy seeks to create a technology workforce pipeline by training and employing early entrants to the industry and setting them on a path to careers for in-demand fields such as cybersecurity, coding, software engineering, user experience design, cloud engineering/architecture, and data analytics.

Selected analysts earn $25 an hour beginning the first day of employment and attend an intensive four-week training program that focuses on civil service training, leadership, technical training & exercises, and professional development within 30 days of hire.

In exchange for a three-year service commitment to the State of Ohio, analysts receive:
  • Tuition or loan reimbursement of $20,000 or $40,000 (expenses must be from within one year of joining ODA or while in the program)

The Ohio Digital Academy is a division housed in the Ohio Department of Administrative Services (DAS) created and led by CyberOhio in collaboration with the Governor's Office of Workforce Transformation (OWT) .

What You'll Do:

Under direct guidance and supervision, work toward acquiring the knowledge, skills, and abilities required to perform entry-level duties with the ODH IDEA team, including:

• Work with business units to identify and document data project requirements.

• Build queries/reports and perform analysis on ODH data.

• Develop data visualizations using Tableau and other business intelligence tools.

• Provide data and analytics support to ODH staff and our customers.

• Create technical and business documentation of data products.

As an ODH Data Analyst, you will be learning and working under the guidance of more experienced professionals. Your job duties will involve supporting them in various tasks while gaining hands-on experience and knowledge in the field of data analytics and data engineering.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

Completion of undergraduate or associate core program in computer science or related major as specified by the position description & job posting.
