About Us:

The Ohio Digital Academy (ODA) is seeking 1 Cybersecurity Analyst to join our January cohort! The selected analyst will join the Ohio Department of Medicaid's Information Technologies Services office and will be learning relevant skills and technologies in Cybersecurity disciplines including:

The Ohio Digital Academy seeks to create a technology workforce pipeline by training and employing early entrants to the industry and setting them on a path to careers for in-demand fields such as cybersecurity, coding, software engineering, user experience design, cloud engineering/architecture, and data analytics.

Selected analysts earn $25 an hour beginning the first day of employment and attend an intensive four-week training program that focuses on civil service training, leadership, technical training & exercises, and professional development within 30 days of hire.

In exchange for a three-year service commitment to the State of Ohio, analysts receive:

• Tuition or loan reimbursement of $20,000 or $40,000 (expenses must be from within one year of joining ODA or while in the program)

The Ohio Digital Academy is a division housed in the Ohio Department of Administrative Services (DAS) created and led by CyberOhio in collaboration with the Governor's Office of Workforce Transformation (OWT).

Hybrid Telework Schedule: 2 days per week in-office and 3 days per week from remote primary home location. This schedule is subject to change at any time based on business need.

What You'll Do:

Under direct guidance and supervision, works toward acquiring the knowledge, skills and abilities required to perform entry-level duties with the End User Support Team:

1. Knowledge and experience (intermediate) using security monitoring tools such as Qualys, CrowdStrike and Google SecOps

2. Scripting experience (i.e. Python) automate repetitive security tasks, such as log analysis, threat detection, and incident response.

3. Experience in creating scripts to search for indicators of compromise (IOCs) and other signs of malicious activity within networks.

4. Working knowledge of the above monitoring tools for data analysis to identify trends and patterns in security data, which can help in predicting and preventing future attacks.

5. Automating parts of the incident response process quickly and efficiently handle security breaches.

6. Writing Python code to integrate various security tools and platforms, enhancing overall security posture.

7. Creating documentation and training materials for security tools and processes.

8. Working with other teams to implement and maintain security best practices, leveraging monitoring tools, policies and procedures

As an ODA Cybersecurity Analyst, you will be learning and working under the guidance of more experienced professionals. Your job duties will involve supporting them in various tasks while gaining hands-on experience and knowledge in the field of Cybersecurity.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

2 - 3 years of experience in Cybersecurity, security monitoring tools and scripting (i.e. Python, Powershell)

Job Skills: Cybersecurity , Computer Literacy, Information Technology, Active Learning, Attention to Detail

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Knowledge

1. Understanding of TCP/IP, DNS, HTTP/HTTPS, and other networking protocols.

2. Familiarity with Windows, Linux, and macOS operating systems.

3. Knowledge of firewalls, anti-virus software, intrusion detection systems (IDS), and intrusion prevention systems (IPS).

4. Basic understanding of encryption algorithms and techniques.

Skills

1. Ability to write scripts in languages like Python to automate tasks.

2. Skills in analyzing and interpreting network logs and security event data.

3. Ability to respond to and mitigate security incidents.

4. Strong verbal and written communication skills to effectively report findings and recommendations.
