Job Summary
The Operations Coordinator for the Independence Blue Cross Recreation Center (IBC) serves as a member of Campus Recreation and reports to the Assistant Director of Fitness. Coordinates and manages all aspects of the fitness facilities with a primary focus on the (IBC). The IBC Operations Coordinator also recruits, hires, and trains student staff, manages the fitness equipment maintenance and repairs. Develops and applies policies and procedures as they relate to the fitness facilities policies, including documentation of processes and protocols. Maintains all safety aspects of the IBC fitness facility and acts as liaison with internal departments.

This position requires Child Abuse Clearances and FBI Fingerprinting.

Required Education and Experience
* Bachelor's degree in Recreation, Physical Education, Kinesiology or related field
* Two (2) years of experience in the collegiate recreational sports environment, Athletic Department or For-Profit Fitness Industry.
* Graduate Assistant/Extern experience will be considered.
* Experience working independently without supervision.
* An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.

Preferred
Initial level of fitness and exercise certification through ACSM, ACE, NASM, AAAI, YMCA, or NSCA preferred.

*Excellent interpersonal, oral and written communication skills along with the ability to interact with a diverse group of individuals inside and outside of the university.
*Ability to handle confidential matters with discretion.
*Demonstrated ability to set priorities, coordinate multiple projects, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
*Excellent organizational skills along with the ability to work independently and efficiently.
*Ability to translate and communicate the mission of a complex, urban university.
*Ability to persuasively represent University goals to various constituency groups.
*Must be able to work flexible shifts between 6am-11pm as well as weekends when needed.
*Intensive concentration and excellent listening skills.
*Ability to multi-task and focus on completion of tasks and objectives while under stress of demanding work schedule.
*Must maintain a positive and objective approach and attitude, even when confronted with difficult situations.

Preferred:
* CPR/AED/First Aid certification
