Job Description:
PURPOSE OF JOB : A nonexempt position responsible for supporting individual patients through the continuum of healthcare as it pertains to surgical scheduling. Responsible for c lerical support and procedure scheduling. Responsible for data entry, calendaring, and providing support for procedure scheduling and the front desk staff.

  • Performs selected clerical and administrative duties to assist surgical services, and physicians as part of the care team
  • Performs other duties as required
Job Qualifications:
QUALIFICATIONS :
  • Education: High school graduate or equivalent
  • Experience: Two years of experience, preferably in a health care environment.
  • Other Skills: EMR Knowledge (Nextgen Experience preferred but not required)
Knowledge:
  • Knowledge of basic medical terminology and organization services.
  • Knowledge of individual responsibilities to accurately direct callers.
  • Knowledge of legal and ethical considerations related to patient information.
  • Knowledge of organizations policies and procedures
  • Knowledge of health care field and medical office protocols/procedures.
Skills:
  • Good communication skills and attention to detail. Must be able to interact with administration, physicians and other department personnel on a daily basis.
  • Skill in using computers.
  • Skill in using multi-line phone system, including transferring calls and paging.
  • Skill in exercising sound judgment and remaining professional at all time.
  • Skill in understanding patient education needs by effectively sharing information with patients and families.
Abilities:
  • Ability to elicit appropriate information to properly direct patients.
  • Ability to calm, or defuse irate callers and patients by working with them to identify concerns develop solutions to problems.
  • Ability to multi-task and organize work for effective completion.
  • Ability to be punctual and available for daily assigned work.
  • Ability to plan, prioritizes, and completes delegated tasks.
  • Ability to project a pleasant and professional image.
  • Ability to demonstrate compassion and caring in dealing with others.
  • Ability to learn and retain information regarding patient care procedures, scheduling and front desk support.
