JOB SUMMARY
- The Perioperative Support Specialist for the Operating Room, under general supervision by the Director of Surgery, performs a wide range of clinically focused, clerical, support, and administrative duties of a responsible and confidential nature that support the Manager, Director, and Medical Director, and the surgical service line. The position performs duties that support the effective operation of the operating room and the surgical service line, including data analytics, quality of care tracking and reporting, process improvement, budget tracking, processing information, participating in key departmental projects, screening inquiries and requests, and calendar and meeting coordination. The position will also be responsible for performing data abstraction, and working with the employees of the division and will focus on administrative reports that promote process improvement initiatives. All activities will be performed in support of the strategy, vision, and values of Phoebe. Reports include OR Dashboard, Division Dashboard, Strategy Board, Surgeon Strategy Board, Data entry, First Case On time Starts, Turnover, Patient Experience, Monthly Operating review, Monthly Statistics Review, A-3 Projects, Block and OR Utilization tracking , letters and communication to physicians and their offices, Throughput statistics, Regulatory statistics, audit tracking, Powerpoint presentations, materials data, service tickets and follow-up, calendar management, minutes for department meetings and more. - Maintains current knowledge in present areas of responsibility (i.e., self education, attends ongoing educational programs)
- Attends staff meetings and completes mandatory in-services and requirements and competency evaluations on time.
- Demonstrates competency at all levels in providing care to all patients based on age, sex, weight, and demonstrated needs. For non-clinical areas, has attended training and demonstrates usage of age- specific customer service skills.
- General environment: Works in a well-lighted, air-conditioned area, with moderate noise levels.
- May be exposed to high noise levels and bright lights.
- May be required to change from one task to another of different nature without loss of efficiency or composure.
- Periods of high stress and fluctuating workloads may occur.
- May be scheduled as needed including overtime
Qualifications
EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS
- High School Diploma or GED (Required)
- 2 year / Associate Degree in business science (Preferred)
- 4+ years Experience in administrative support position of increasing responsibility (Required)
- 2+ years Relevant data entry experience in healthcare related field (Required)
- 2+ years Experience in a hospital or managed care setting (Preferred)
- 1+ years Experience in chart analysis, chart auditing, or chart abstraction (Preferred)
- No Certifications are Required or Preferred
