Job Description

The Office of Sponsored Programs in the Office for Research and Innovation at Virginia Tech has an opening for a Post Award Associate for the Financial Management team. The Post Award Associate (Research Administrator) serves as a part of a team responsible for billing, financial reporting, receivable/collection, and fiscal closeout of research awards in accordance with sponsored award requirements. The Associate assists faculty and staff in award administration and ensures compliance with university and sponsor policies, procedures, and requirements. Responsibilities include invoicing the sponsors accurately and timely for incurred expenses, completing the required financial reports, and managing accounts receivables. This position works closely with the post award grants management team, departments, and faculty.

The position will foster teamwork and collaboration, with demonstrated organizational skills and high commitment to customer service by applying skills and experience to the review of research proposals and ensuring compliance with federal, state, and university regulations and guidelines.

Required Qualifications

Bachelor's degree or significant relevant work experience may be considered in lieu of a bachelor's degree.
Familiarity with bookkeeping/accounting practices and/or invoicing.
Demonstrated experience and/or college coursework with an emphasis on accounting, finance, or government/business regulations and administration.

Preferred Qualifications

Demonstrated experience with federal and nonfederal grants and/or contract regulations.
Project administration and/or project management experience preferably in a research setting.
Knowledge of university administrative and/or accounting practices and procedures.

Additional Information

Position is eligible for a hybrid work arrangement and the details of that work arrangement will be confirmed upon hire.
