Description

SAIC is currently seeking an experienced Network Systems Engineer to provide technical advisory support to the US Space Force (USSF) Space Systems Center (SSC) Space Sensing Directorate (SSC/SN). SSC/SN acquired Overhead Persistent Infrared (OPIR) and Weather space systems to support military and intelligence community users. This position provides Network Systems Engineering guidance and technical support to SSC/SNGT for new and ongoing network acquisition and development efforts for the Boulder Ground Innovation Facility (BGIF), Tools, Applications, and Processes Laboratory (TAP Lab). The successful candidate will support network and systems solutions to provide a secure application development enclave. Extensive network experience with systems engineering and systems development/test/integration is required, and knowledge of major US Government satellite programs is highly desired. The successful candidate will also interface with development contractors and military customers to provide recommendations for all network activities.

Job Responsibilities:

• Assist and advise on the engineering, design, integration, and delivery of government and/or commercially provided communications services in support of program voice, video, and data requirements.

• Work with communications service providers (i.e. DISA, Classified Host, AFSPC Networks) and commercial service providers (i.e. Lumen, AT&T, Amazon) to understand technology roadmaps and management of program Service Level Agreements.

• Assess communications systems and the relationship with Information Assurance, Cryptographic Systems, Data Processing, Storage Systems, Voice and Video systems, and Cloud Services.

• Responsible for Data Center Management including but not limited to documentation, Configuration Management, physical layout, and safety considerations.

• Maintain external connections and WAN circuits.

• Comprehend in-depth interconnect diagrams for internal and external communications.

• Provide advisory support for LAN and WAN circuits.

• De-conflict and baseline standards and processes within scope of authority to ensure cohesion across various technology and enclave maintainers.

• Report to the government customer on status, major iterative changes, and outages.

• Coordinate and supervise lessons learned activities and generate after action reports.

• Candidate should be fluent with WAN communications, LAN implementations, and troubleshooting and Data Center Communications constructs.

Critical skills include architecture and design, requirements generation, technical solution development, integration, plan validation and supervision, and professional communications.

Qualifications

• US Citizen with DoD TS/SCI security clearance and eligibility to obtain TS/SCI with polygraph eligibility.
  • Strong network and systems background with technical expertise in network protocols, theory, and network management.
  • Knowledge of modern network design and theory.
  • Experience with US Space Force/Air Force Missile Warning, Missile Tracking, Missile Characterization, and/or Missile Defense.
  • Excellent interpersonal, written, and communication skills.
• Work proactively, independently, and participate as a member of a highly effective technical team while developing approaches to solutions.
  • Detail oriented, well organized, and able to multi-task while handling competing priorities and deadlines.
Qualifications (Desired):

• Practical knowledge of transport, LAN, and WAN technologies.

• Experience with government and commercial service providers.

• Knowledge of information assurance, cyber technologies, and security/encryption systems for classified networks.

• Experience with OPIR sensors and ground processing.

• Recent experience in related field as a government and/or cleared defense contractor.
  • Experience working in a Systems Engineering and Technical Advisory (SETA) role.
Education and Training (Required):

• Bachelor of Science degree in a related field such as Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Information Technology, etc. and ten (10) years of relevant experience.

Education and Training (Alternative):

• Master of Science degree in a related field such as Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Information Technology, etc. and seven (7) to nine (9) years of relevant experience.

Certifications (Desired):

• CCNA, SECURITY+, A+, Network+, CySA+, ITIL, CIOS, SCIS, CSAP, Linux, AWS, ACAS.

Target salary range: $120,001 - $160,000. The estimate displayed represents the typical salary range for this position based on experience and other factors.

SAIC accepts applications on an ongoing basis and there is no deadline.
