We are currently seeking a Process Automation Engineer at our Freeport, TX site. What You'll Do:
  • Support day-to-day operations to meet business needs
  • Utilize existing Process Control and plant performance indicators to monitor effectiveness of plant operation and the Process Control system
    • Monitor DCS Health, working with others to resolve issues
    • Monitor Top 10 alarms and IO points in manual
    • Monitor MOD Exception Report
    • Monitor other process automation KPIs
    • Facilitate Plant PA meeting to review above items and identify any opportunities
    • Assist/work with DXC (3rd party supplier) to resolve VAX issues if they arise
  • Identify and implement process automation improvements
  • Complete appropriate reviews on plant opportunities and Management of Change (MOC)
  • Perform code/configuration loading in simulation and production environments as required, following plant policies and procedures
  • Serve as owner and provide process automation strategy, configuration, and ongoing support needs
  • Perform process automation related activities on capital and improvement projects
  • Provide process automation checkout and start-up support of facilities in order to meet production schedules and meet business needs
  • Assist Manufacturing Engineers in troubleshooting process control problems.
  • Ensure adequate documentation systems for site control strategies to maintain the integrity of control strategies
  • Serve as owner of process control system infrastructure, programming, security, process information, and related management of change activity
  • Serve as or work closely with Functional Safety Experts to ensure all safety instrumented system requirements are met
  • Ensure all alarm management requirements are met
Qualifications

What Skills You Need:
  • BS degree in Engineering (e.g. Chemical, Electrical, Computer, or similar) preferred
  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent; associates degree in electrical, electronics, instrumentation, digital control systems, or related field preferred other sufficient knowledge and experience
  • Experience with ABB 800xA, MOD, and Rockwell distributed control systems preferred
  • Understanding of fundamental/advanced control strategies and loop tuning strategies
  • Understanding of control systems including specifying equipment, configuring network data points, building graphics, logic configuration, and performing system backups
  • Familiarity with theory of and specification of process instrumentation and analyzers
  • Understanding of Process Safety Management (PSM) requirements including safety instrumented systems (ISA-84) and management of change procedures
  • Familiarity with project management
