CertainTeed is looking for a talented, and energetic engineer to join our team working on projects that focus on manufacturing process optimization and new product and sensor development for CertainTeed Gypsum's plasterboard products. As a Process R&D Engineer, the candidate will - through the application of research and development technologies - enhance the fundamental understanding of manufacturing processes as required to optimize plant performance regarding safety, reliability, process control, quality, and cost. Phases of development include pilot trials, scale-up, and implementation of R&D processes and new products into manufacturing. The candidate will take project objectives and transform them into actionable tasks including research of technologies, design and execution of experimentation, analysis of results, and generation of IP and technical reports.

Responsibilities:
- Supports technical development of R&D concepts through pilot studies for eventual implementation.
- Carries several small projects or studies - spanning from process optimizations to new product development - through to successful completion.
- Utilizes sound technical knowledge of materials, processes, techniques, and products to improve on product performance to reduce costs, to maximize production, and support new knowledge research.
- Manage and document projects including the generation of project timelines/plans, technical memos, research reports, and presentations to internal customers, project teams, and/or management
- Develop and encourage innovation and Intellectual Property (IP) development through prior analysis, patent development, and patent defense
- Supports local teams with technical assistance on reactive troubleshooting as needed
- Bachelor's Degree with 3+ years of experience or entry Level Master's Degree with a thesis in Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or other related discipline.
- 2 plus years of Process Engineering experience preferred
- Ability to travel up to 40%
