Location: The Process & Product Development Engineer position is an onsite position located in Tamaqua, PA. As a Process and Product Development Engineer, you will work closely with the laboratory, engineering, operations, quality, and commercial groups. You will be able to perform all duties consistent with process development activities that drive process development and improvement. You will serve as the technical lead for Process Development group processes. To succeed in this role, you must have a strong commitment to safety, health and environmental leadership and sustainability. Project management include project proposals with detailed scope description, PFD, P&IDs, a cost estimate and a timeline or schedule for a project. You will also work closely with vendors and contractors on design and fabrication during project execution. Routinely documenting results and giving oral presentations on process/project status is required. Detailed tracking of project spending and identifying continuous improvement opportunities is necessary. Key Responsibilities:A transformational engineer who works cross-functionally to solve process challenges and drive innovation across the spectrum of operational activities.Propel new products from scale-up/development to commercialization while managing change.Define the scope of improvement projects to drive sustainable improvement.Implement continuous improvement initiatives to eliminate waste, increase production and improve quality, understanding that customer needs are key to process improvement.Ensure that key metrics are defined, developed, and tracked and that improvements result in a positive impact.Ensure smooth and consistent communication and exchanges between operations and internal and external stakeholders.Results-oriented individual with strong influencing, problem solving.Willingness to engage in plant activities to support optimization activities and assist in the detailed execution of projects.Exceptional attention to detail with relentless pursuit of excellence.Ability to effectively collaborate in a dynamic, cross-functional environment.Solid planning, organizational and project management skills with the ability to multi-task and assimilate new information quickly.Lead OPHRs and ensure consistent processes and safety standards apply across all locations.Review and update all process and operation documentations with particular focus on MOC.Lead continuous improvement programs/projects. Who You Are:Minimum Qualifications:Bachelor's degree in chemical engineering, chemistry, science, or similar disciplineWorking knowledge with the design & building of plants and analytical instruments (FTIR, GC, ICPMS, Raman, etc.)Up to 10% domestic and internal travel Preferred Qualifications:Masters or PhD in Chemical Engineering, chemistry or science Enthusiastic, innovative, skillful self-starter Lean 6 Sigma experience is a plusExcellent analytical, strategic planning and executionExperience with laboratory/pilot plant operationsExperience with handling hazardous chemicals (toxic, reactive, pyrophoric, corrosive, oxidizer)Familiarity with packaging and handling moisture and air-sensitive solids, liquids and gases.Trouble-shoot and resolve production problemsIn-depth understanding of process controlsProcess design & project managementTechnical support of existing systems (sustaining)Supervision of junior engineers, process technicians, QC technicians and maintenance workers.
