Production Support Engineer

Day to Day:
Insight Global is seeking 2 Production Support Engineers to join one of our largest financial clients in New York City supporting the Markets APS Rates and Commodities Team. On a day-to-day basis, individuals will be intaking service requests from Middle Office and Traders servicing their suite of applications. They will be responsible for the monitoring and alerting of critical trading system environments, performing application health checks to assure system availability and stability, user querying and production incident handling, triage, and hands-on trouble-shooting of Python and Java based applications. They will resolve any performance issues per criticality, capacity management and production release process management. All of these processes should be properly documented and communicated effectively. Ideally, this person is proactive in their identification and resolution of problem hotspots and has the creativity and high-energy required to effectively coordinate restoration efforts for this high-impact space.

Required Skills & Experience

Must Haves:
- 5+ years of experience providing Production/Application support
- SQL experience- query a database - mix off from scratch and a run book
- Work experience in a Linux/Unix environment
- Business knowledge in Rates, Fixed Income, Swaps, Treasuries, and/or Trading techniques
- Experience with Python based applications
- Experience monitoring the performance and health of system applications, ability to identify and resolve issues proactively
- Experience with monitoring tools such as Splunk, Dynatrace, or AppDynamics
- Experience scripting with Shell and Python for automation and scripting tasks (Intermediate level: multi-table joins, grouping results, etc...)
- Strong communication skills, ability to work with internal and 3rd party vendors

Nice to Have Skills & Experience

Plusses:
- ITRS Geneos Enterprise monitoring experience
- Previous Bank of America experience
