General Summary of Position

Job Summary:

MedStar Health is looking for a Program Coordinator to support the Diabetes Prevention Program (DPP) at MedStar St. Mary's Hospital in the Health Connections department. The Program Coordinator gives oversight in daily operations, supporting and guiding educators, and making sure the program meets the quality performance standards of the CDC. The Program Coordinator, under the direction of the Director of Health Connections, is responsible for the day-to-day planning and coordination of activities, events, grants, and programmatic initiatives. This position will work closely with key staff across the health system including grants management, hospital leaders, tax and finance, clinical teams, community partners, and local and state-based agencies. Coordinates with the Director of Health Connections to develop and maintain relationships with members, providers, community organizations, and program vendors to coordinate efforts and evidence-based programs. Supports the development and execution of new programmatic initiatives aimed at overall strategic goals around community benefit/community health, social determinants of health & health equity initiatives.

Primary Duties:
  • Contributes to the achievement of established departmental goals and objectives and adheres to department policies, procedures, quality standards, and safety standards. Ensures compliance with hospital/facility policies and procedures and governmental/accreditation regulations.
  • Maintains program performance data and provides monthly reporting to the Director and staff. Collaborates with staff and director to develop goals, action plans, outcome commeasures, and evaluation methodology.
  • Assist in the management of grant budgets and action items.
  • Trains staff as required for events and data collection. Oversees the accurate and timely entry of data related to program activities, including documentation and entry of Community Benefit activities. Assists with the setup, schedules staffing, and participates in classes, programs, community events, and special events.
  • Participates in meetings and on committees and represents the department and hospital in community outreach efforts as required.
  • Focus on participant engagement by actively recruiting for programs at community outreach events, and meetings, and identifying opportunities to speak one-on-one to individuals about available programs.
  • Maintains current knowledge of national Community Benefit practices and trends to accurately account for Community Benefit activities in accordance with current IRS, AHA, state hospital associates, AC HI, and MedStar standards.
  • Diabetes Prevention Program (DPP): Support and coordinate the facilitation of programmatic delivery of the Diabetes Prevention Program. Conduct program, logistical, technical, and supplies support with team members. Facilitate interactions among team members. Monitor attendance of program participants and monitor and maintain other relevant program records. Track and report on key performance indicators as required. Serve as a point of contact between the program and external stakeholders. Communicate with partners, sponsors, and other relevant entities. Coordinate training sessions for team members to enhance skills and knowledge.


Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Nursing, Public Health, Healthcare Administration, Public Administration, Business Administration, Psychology, Statistics, Sociology, Economics, or a closely related field, Required.
  • Master's degree, Preferred.
  • At least 1 year working experience in health education or experience teaching in a group setting, Required.
  • Minimum 3 years' experience in public health administration, public health management, or related field, Preferred.
  • Previous experience in collaborating with human services agencies and behavioral health entities, Preferred.
  • Prior experience leading broad public health efforts or initiatives, Preferred.

This position has a hiring range of $58,656.00 -\r$93,246.40
