Purpose of Position
Assists in the operation of the Pulmonary Function Lab.

Description
1. Perform pulmonary diagnostic studies.
2. Prepare Methacholine solutions for tests.
3. Assist with all Bronchoscopies in all areas of Hospital per the needs of the Department.
4. Provide daily support for the PFT Lab and Bronchoscopies, including ordering and stocking of equipment and supplies.
5. Maintain, calibrate, and troubleshoot various PFT and Bronch equipment.
6. Perform diagnostic procedures such as ABG draws and sputum specimen collection.
7. Perform 6-minute walks.
8. Perform daily reminder calls to confirm appointments and assist scheduling stat/urgent patients as necessary.
9. Complete daily reconciliation of all PFT reports and forward to ordering Provider.
10. Accurately charge for all services rendered.
11. Perform charge reconciliation on all patients daily, when asked, to ensure correct billing.
12. Provide accurate and complete documentation.
13. Assist in departmental planning, development of policies and procedures, and monitoring of Quality Assurance/Improvement Plans.
14. Train Pulmonary/Respiratory Therapists in pulmonary function testing.
15. Maintain professional growth and development through approved seminars and professional affiliations appropriate to the age of the patients served.
16. Work in the capacity of a Respiratory Therapist per the needs of the Department.
17. Provide Respiratory Care, while using Therapist Driven Protocols, when indicated.
18. Consistently provides service excellence to all patients, family members, visitors, volunteers and co-workers.
19. Perform other work-related duties as requested/required.

Qualifications
· Ability to read, write and communicate in English
· Board Registered Pulmonary Function Technologist (RPFT) or Certified Pulmonary Function Technologist (CPFT) preferred within 6 months of hire
· Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) or Certified Respiratory Therapist (CRT)
· Massachusetts state licensure in Respiratory Therapy
· Current BLS certification
· Minimum one year of experience in Pulmonary Function testing preferred
· Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment with multiple responsibilities encompassed within the position.
