SUMMARY:

The Senior Quality Engineer is responsible for the support of NPI launches and ECN activity, including assurance of compliance to customer, industry, and regulatory requirements. Other responsibilities include daily production troubleshooting, inspection and disposition of purchased and manufactured parts and assemblies, root cause analysis, implementation and tracking of corrective actions and continuous improvements, and interfacing with customers.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Review customer requirements and ensure flowdown to engineering, manufacturing, quality, and outside vendors
  • Complete customer questionnaires and self-audits
  • Participate in quote, purchase order, and design reviews
  • Participate in new product introduction and validation in support of internal and customer requirements
  • Assist in documentation of manufacturing plans and processes to ensure conformance to quality management system requirements
  • Assist in development and maintenance of incoming, in-process and final inspection criteria, methods, and data collection
  • Coordinate RMA activities
  • Support Inspection personnel in the performance of their assigned responsibilities
  • Perform training of quality inspectors and others as assigned
  • Review, investigate, and disposition nonconforming product reports
  • Assist in corrective action and improvement activities including investigation, root cause analysis, and development of corrective and preventive action plans for internal issues and customer returns as required
  • Author and help maintain quality system documentation, with assistance from Document Control personnel
  • Assist in internal and external audits
  • Develop and mentor direct/indirect and supervisory level reports to ensure high performance, competence, and behavior consistent with the company's values and culture
  • Responsible for cleanliness of his/her own work area and the general housekeeping of the Company
  • Adhere to the facility's quality, environmental, health and safety policies that are identified by our Management Systems


REQUIREMENTS:
  • A safety focused mindset and the ability to influence a work safe culture
  • Working knowledge of AS9100D
  • Knowledge of quality engineering principles preferred
  • Ability to analyze components and manufacturing processes to improve product quality and process efficiency
  • Strong analytical skills and the ability to express technical concepts effectively, both written and verbally
  • Excellent presentation skills and capacity to interact professionally and tactfully with all levels of the organization and customer base
  • Proficient with inspection methods, tools and instruments (Optical Comparator, digital height gages, CMM, calipers, etc.)
  • Experienced interpreting GD&T requirements of complex machined components
  • Exceptional technical skill sets with the ability to contribute to and/or create formal presentations utilizing MS Office while composing accurate data as well as navigating ERP system
  • Proven communication and problem-solving skills
  • Knowledge of Lean Principals


EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:
  • Bachelor's Degree in engineering or related discipline
  • Experience in metal machining manufacturing environment preferred

The employee is frequently required to sit and to use a computer keyboard with mouse for long periods of time. The employee will occasionally lift and/or move 25 pounds.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

While performing the duties of this job in the Plant or Warehouse, the employee is exposed to noise and aluminum particles. The noise level is usually moderate but hearing protection may be required in designated areas. The employee is required to wear safety glasses when in the plant.
