This position reports to

Senior Engineering Manager

Your role and responsibilities

  • As the Senior Advanced Manufacturing Engineer, you will play a crucial role in driving automation and process improvement initiatives within our organization's
  • manufacturing operations. You will provide dedicated support for ongoing projects, and you will drive improvements in production of Instrument
  • Transformers and Indoor & Outdoor products production in ELDS in Pinetops, North Carolina.
  • In this role your focus will be on optimizing the
  • manufacturing process through innovation in a cost-effective way, focusing on automatizing processes.
  • Drive improvements and CAPEX projects focusing on utilizing the Lean Manufacturing concepts and tools, automation, mechatronics, and robotics, to lead to lead transformation projects
  • Develop feasibility studies, design & implementation of automation projects, including AGVs implementation, robotic cells, automated conveyors, etc.
  • Develop project plans and timelines for automation initiatives, ensuring alignment with overall project objectives and milestones
  • Monitor progress and performance against established timelines, proactively identifying and addressing any delays or roadblocks
  • Defining action plans and training relevant maintenance and production resources and personnel to ensure smooth implementation of new processes
  • Design, develop, and implement automation solutions tailored to meet the specific needs and objectives of each project

  • Working hand in hand with the Continues Improvement and Industrialization teams, to participate and lead Kaizen projects

Qualifications for the role

  • University degree in Engineering degree, (Mechanical, Electronics, Control, and Automation)
  • Minimum 5 years of hands-on experience in advanced manufacturing, automation, or related fields
  • Ability to work onsite in Pinetops, NC daily
  • Strong knowledge of Lean Manufacturing principals and tools
  • Excellent project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet tight deadlines
  • Strong experience in layout development and optimization preferred
  • Good experience in using AutoCAD and/or Revit
  • Good experience in using simulation software like FlexSim is a definite plus
  • Preferably have process knowledge in one or more disciplines such as assembly, material handling, winding, press automation, picking/packing/pallet applications, etc.
  • Preferably have a working knowledge of control systems, I/O, PLC and bus communication
  • Experience in offline robot programming and simulation packages (RobotStudio) is a plus
  • Advanced level in English language (Speaking and writing skills)
  • Strong interpersonal skills to communicate and work with diverse discipline project teams
  • Ability to learn new methods and technologies
  • Candidates must already have a work authorization that would permit them to work for ABB in the US
